3rd NHL team for Dougie at the age of 25. There has to be something behind that.

I think when you make as many big moves as Treliving has since becoming GM of the Flames you are going to win some of them and lose some of them. Brad lost last year's trade with the Islanders and this one doesn't look good on paper. Hopefully these guys bring more to the table than their stats would indicate.

Remove the emotion.

We traded Hamilton (former 1st), Ferland (5th) and Fox (3rd) for two former 5th overall picks. Hanafin is no Slouch and Lindholm gives us that RH shot in top 6.

I will never listen to fox on the run the same again

Really needed to maximize value on Dougie, but maybe there is more wrong there than rumoured, don't like losing Fox either but I can't see Calgary letting him go without knowing they couldn't sign him. Team needed a shake up, we got it, I sure hope the new pieces excel for us.

Jesus... we got fleeced hard. The difference between Lindholm and Ferland does not equal the difference between Dougie and Hanifin. Fox added in... brutal.

I'm willing to bet the extensions for both Lindholm & Hanifin end up looking pretty good. Thinking those terms played a role in the stacking of the deal.

If Lindholm becomes a 60 point guy, then this trade will be ok

Peters better be right about these 2 guys. Surprised Derek Ryan not included. I like how we sold high on Ferland. I didn't like giving away Fox. We could not sign Hickey and Fox but we picked 2 more US players in this draft???

Looks like LeBrun really does have the pulse of what Treliving is going to do....

So as this gets hashed out. Fox wasn't singing. Hamilton is an issue behind the curtain. Even the guys on the draft show right now all said the same thing.

I don't see this as a bad trade solely because Treliving had always hinted there was something wrong in the locker room. He's gone and fixed it with some very very good, very young and cost controlled long term players.

I still don't like the forwards. Lindholm is really not much of an upgrade. They'd better not throw in the towel here now.

Are you serious? Lindholm is a massive upgrade on Ferland.

Hamilton is soft. Good shot but a lot of meh after that. Interestingly on his 3rd team at this age, what dies that say?

Ferland is replacable. Like the guy, but not a core piece. Fox is the unknown. But he may have been lost anyways.

Hopefully Hanifin can play with much better effort than Hamilton.

Guys on nhl.com speculating again that Hamilton didn't fit in the locker room.

Ferland coming off a career year.

It's a lot to give up but Treliving selling high and the room needed a shakeup.

Lindholm is what he is, don't have much more expectation of him but if Hanifin busts, this will be a terrible trade.

I guess the better question is will Lindholm score more or less with Johnny / Monahan? That's gotta be the question Tre believes he has answered.

Disappointed to see Fox thrown into this though. I think the deal would have been even without him. I think Tre could have used Fox a bit more advantageously in another deal than to just throw him in for balance.

Not on the Flames he wasn't. So if that's his value, don't trade him.

Hanifin is a unbelievable get. Not sure of the hate here. Both guys really young with a ton of upside.

I am okay with this deal. A change was needed and we got it. Next, they need another forward.

Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Tkachuk-Jankowski-???
Bennett-Backlund-Frolik
