That was poo but I’ll try to be positive. I liked Lucic and Ryan tonight.
That’s all I got.

I have to say, I'm about as frustrated with Johnny as anyone but I don't really get the suggestion that he's "disinterested" or gives "zero ####s".
Gaudreau often looks visibly frustrated to the point that I think it dramatically affects his game, which only makes him more frustrated. To me, that doesn't speak to someone that doesn't care. I think he cares too much about his own performance and it gets into his head.
When I think of a player that looks like they don't care, it's James Neal.
That being said, I think trading him prior to the last year of his contract makes the most sense as far as asset management goes realistically.

An embarrassing Flames loss coupled with an Oilers blowout win is never a good day. Burn the tape, regroup after the break, and move on.
Tre needs to get this team some scoring help ASAP.

The best thing that can happen to the Flames over the break is hiring Gallant.
We don't need a coach that's going to be best friends with each of his players and allow them to decide when they want to show up to play or not while having terrible 5v5 systems.
We need a coach who respects his players but demands them to show up to play every game and have a strong work ethic while also having great 5v5 systems that will allow them to stay in games even when they're not at their best.
Today's game was the hockey Gods laughing at us for stealing so many underserved points over the last couple months that we got what we deserved despite dominating play.
Final tallies over this 3 game Eastern-Canadian road trip:
Goals For: 3
Goals Against: 8
Reminder: these 3 games were against teams that had a combined 2 wins in 22 games before playing us and had given up an average of 4.05 goals against per game.

Brad, find some players who detest losing!!! The effort just isn’t there with too many of the players on this team.

Change to the roster to bring in offense can't happen soon enough. Team is brutal.

Is Treliving the guy to make the difficult but necessary moves with this core? I still think so but he's running out of time if he doesn't address in the off-season.

Probably still wouldn't be happy. That said the Flames can still get good value for him if that's how it plays out.

Two options:
1. Hire a new coach to get to playoffs. The team seems to respond after a coaching change. In the summer, shake up the core.
Or
2. Be an aggressive seller at the deadline. Shake up and reload in the summer.
I'd go with option #2. This team doesn't have what it takes to win a championship.

I liked everything you said but I will still hold out hope Johnny wants to re-sign here and Treliving builds our team a little more balanced out.
I think he can be part of the solution here but yea if he wants to test free agency you have to trade him.

On the positive side of things, Kyllington was the best defender on the night, and Andersson the second. The third pairing being that dynamic is a nice problem to have.
Monahan had some nice defensive coverage, for the second game in a row.
Ryan, Dube, Bennett brought the energy. I guess they don't play fortnite, or have the 'wheres the rave' app on their phone.
