Need an equivalent thread for Farkas, I think. Pretty tone deaf.

He said most people retire, they get a party from their co-workers or a cake.

I think for most City employees the bonus is really not having to deal with councillors like as Chu or Farkas anymore. The money is just icing on the cake.

Well Chu had his moments yesterday, but there was also the conflict between Nenshi and Gondek. I just feel like these people all dislike each other and as a result they get almost nothing taken care of at this point.

This council is incredibly dysfunctional. This is a byproduct of the citizens electing these officials though. Having a Chu and Farkas both on the same council is a recipe for a mess.

You would hope this would change for the next election; especially since Nenshi shouldn't be running, but I'm not holding my breath.

Chu should know the procedures and does look like a moron here, but I also think Nenshi could be a little less condescending in the way he responds to his colleagues. Seems like a lot of the meetings go off the rails because he always has to get a snide comment in.

For every minute that group spends throwing insults, discussing behaviour, and generally arguing amongst themselves, is a minute they are not spending on actual issues affecting Calgarians.

It’s a deporlorable waste of time, and I expect better from shop employees let alone elected ‘officials’. Heated debate is one thing, but this seems like an awfully high amount of energy spent on very unproductive pissing matches. It’s no longer cute, get to ####ing work.

Critiquing Chu for being an idiot isn't excusing Nenshi for being a condescending prick. These things can both be true, you know.

Yes, that's why I said, "Hate Nenshi as much as you want, I get it." The point, if you missed it, was you claimed you fixed it by changing Chu to Nenshi. Chu is dumber than Nenshi. This is a demonstrable fact. It doesn't excuse Nenshi for his actions. He's either absolutely sick and tired of Chu being so stupid, or he's an a-hole, or more likely, a lot of both.

Nenshi is brilliant. And he knows it. And he’s a pissy little bitch about it constantly.

So while I agree being snooty doesn’t have much of a place at city hall, it’s kind of what makes him effective.

I disagree. He was effective in his first term and I don't remember him being nearly as snooty then. I think he has picked up some bad habits over the years.
