Just pay for the year for Disney+ at $90, don’t have to worry about a price increase for a year.

Hulu? Sounds like most of the FX shows like Always Sunny are ending up there.

I too hope we can get to a point where streaming becomes packaged with sports and whatever to just pay one bill and have one device interface streaming everything.

I leads to wonder after driving around today, though - How much of our cable bills in the past were us subsidizing the constant switching of providers by everyone to get a better deal?

I get the giants have to let some customers walk for a better deal or they'll get run over, but it's almost their own fault as they constantly try to lure each other's customers.

Just a random thought I guess, but seeing so many I just figured "Man, how much are we paying for cable/internet service vs paying for techs to run around constantly removing and setting up residences, mostly due to switching.

As far as I know both major cable companies offer free install when you sign up, so that means that's a hell of a lot of capital likely being spread into everyone's monthly bills.

I guess now they're finding out that their competition wasn't so much the other providers as much as alternative options.

Anyone know if the D23 discount applies in Canada?

Apparently in the US if you signup for a free D23 (I think?) membership you can get D+ for $4USD/mth on the condition you sign up for 3 years.

On the D23 website, at the bottom of the promotional image it says for the US only, I signed up hoping they might extend it to Canada as well, and said it can take up to 36 hours to get your offer. Giving it until tomorrow to see if I get the same offer or not

I did this for a few years before becoming and Engineer and there are many days I still miss this gig. Starting out I made way more than I did as an Engineer and way less stress. They had a rotating schedule so the max days you work is 4 days and you'd get 3 days off. It was a sick gig. We're talking high 5's, and easy 6's right off the bat. I'm sure things have changed because we were paid way way way too much for what we did. I calculated my average work week and I probably worked 25-30 hours. Why I left to become and engineer?

I was thinking about this but how big of the miss was this to call this "Disney+" instead of "Disney Vault".

It's always been known as the Disney Vault, and they had the whole opening up the vault to you tag line they could have used.

But the Vault is stuff that isn’t available. This probably includes Vault stuff, but also includes new movies and TV. It wouldn’t make sense.

It's Disney. I'm sure they focus-grouped the hell out of the possible names.

The problem with using a name like The Disney Vault is that it implies an archive of old content not new stuff. That would be true even if they hadn't been using the Disney Vault to describe their limited releases of the old Walt-era films for at least 20 years, but it's especially true because they have.

----------

Speaking of names, NBC-Universal just announced the name for their previously announced streaming service: Peacock. Now that's a bad name.

Everybody knows that the only think in the Vault is Walt's Cryogenically Frozen body waiting for technology to advance so that we can upload his brain into a presumably harmless-mouse-shaped killer robot.

This has always been the plan.

Do you have 3 hours to spare? Check out everything that will be on Disney+ at launch (in the US at least, some rights might be under different contracts in other countries)...

They released the list on Twitter... in about 500 tweets.

What ever happened to a simple alphabetical list in one place?

Ya, there were some pretty questionable titles on there. At first I thought there might have been a mistake or something but they look funny in a bad movie sort of way.

Either way, you just know Disney+ is going to be amazing. Look at the amount of crap on Netflix, when you see what's coming out there is just more and more crap than quality.
