Maybe not, but his obviously superior physical attributes and skills more than make up for it. Pound for pound and in every situation there is not a better hockey player on the planet than Nate MacKinnon.

Right now if I am honest, I am taking Mackinnon as well. But there is potential for Pettersson to be that level of player.

They're very different. Pettersson is not an elite skater. I don't think he'll ever be the game breaker MacKinnon is. But you can be elite without being a game breaker... see Mark Stone.

MacKinnon is a Lemieux, Petterson is a Gretzky. In physical form, well hell in skill form as well.

We are going on in a 6 of 1, Half a dozen of the other type convo here.

I think you can be a game breaker in different way, like I don't know if Mackinnon can make the types of long passes that Pettersson does. That will eat teams alive as much as Mackinnon's pure speed and skill, though I do admit it does require the player receiving the pass to actually finish.

Edit- Just popped over to the Oiler sub-reddit for some schadenfreud. Apparently this was on Koskinen.

Going to have to disagree on that, neither is even close to as good as the 2 best players in history.

Hmmm. I'm more talking about how they both approach the game more than actual skill level. Obviously skill level goes to the old guard. But I can't think of better comparables to skill sets and physical builds. Although Lemieux was a bigger beast than Mac.

If you're comparing playing styles it's more like MacKinnon is Pavel Bure and Pettersson is Paul Kariya.

It always pisses me off how good Kariya was and how he was never the same after Suter.

No kidding. He’s a great player but isn’t even in the same realm as a guy like MacKinnon, both in talent and hockey IQ (which is a very subjective thing to measure).

Honestly that is the dirtiest play in NHL in the last 30 years IMO.

Cross check a guy across the head face as you’re late to the play and he just scored.

I will forever hate Gary Suter for that. Don’t even care that he was a big part of the cup winning team, I’ll hate him forever for that.

Good on the predictions there Cali Panthers, only one wrong. You were bang on the Lightning making the Bhawks look ugly. Lazypucker, at least one game finished in reg time.

I think this is his first time calling a game in English. He has been the rinkside reporter/interviewer over the past 4 years when doing english games. His first one was Wed. Nov. 30, 2016. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...ator-1.3875319

That's a classic dilemma, take a shower after each of those games.
