It was good to see Backlund's line step up in that regard. It was a great road win but you can't sit back and let the opponent come at you.
Hopefully Gulutzan can get his message across and they are in the same position many more times but push hard and play in the opponent's end more.
|
So you mean GG doesn't tell his team to go out and sit back?
That it just might be on the players to stop doing such?
No way!

Monahan's 1 knee celebrations are so bad they're hilarious. I love them!

Between Monny with the one-knee move and Johnny's fired up "f'n rights boys!" they're adding some serious swagger to all the points they're putting up!

Johnny in Art Ross territory is an amazing sight considering we have him at 6 Million and change.
That is looking more and more like a steal.
I wonder what kind of cap hit he'd be looking at if he was due to be re-signed after this season.

I can’t believe the perfect 180 in goal Treliving has delivered this season.
Saw Rittich was starting and was more chilled than Chilli McChilled cool brother from Santiago.

I agree that it's very refreshing, but this feels like years in the process. With some strikes even this year in Lack.
Kind of makes me wonder what if Rittich had a greater opportunity last year. He might not have been ready (Still might not, although he's doing a darn good job of convincing me), but we also may have made different decisions and Smith might not be on the team.

It's the first time all season the Flames have played casually after getting the lead. It's certainly not a trend with this team.
But, at least the coach is going to address it after game 54.

They do it all the time when the are up in the third, they play not to lose instead of playing to win.

That was exactly the point. The arguement was it's the players as the coach is going to talk to them. My arguement is this has been a GG coached team issue all season long. Why come out after game 54 and say it will be dealt with? What the hell was he doing all the other games?

Rittich needs to play more down the stretch, at home as well. Smith will benefit from the rest and I feel like the team may respond to a different goalie between the pipes on home ice....anything is worth a shot to get the team going like they are on the road.
