Wikipedia has the 2 Class range of the MAX 8 at 3550 nautical miles, so here is the map showing what that range gets you:

YYC-BOG direct! Do it!

Probably with an associated increase in price... Though it does mean the benefit of not being stuck on those lousy Rouge planes. Will the mainline 737max be better? Hard to be worse.

Not sure on the pricing part (with WestJet on the route too though I think things stay pretty reasonable) but here are the differences in the seats with the MAX 8 versus the Rouge 763:
MAX 8:
Business Class Seats 38" pitch, 21" width
Economy Class Seats 30" pitch, 18" width
Rouge 767:
Business Class Seats 37" pitch, 18.5" width
Economy Plus 35" pitch, 18" width
Economy 30" pitch, 17.5" width

I just did the math on seats for a 767 rouge vs a 7M8. Using all 3 classes on the 767 it's a 20% loss in seats even if they go to 4x weekly. If WJ follows suit it'll inevitably increase flight costs.
Hopefully they'll go to 5x weekly which would restore total seats... The flexibility would be welcome.

The most important thing to the airlines though is how many butts are in those seats. Maybe AC doesn't need and doesn't fill all those seats that are currently available. Going to a more frequent, smaller capacity aircraft is likely right-sizing their operation.

How did the re-opening go from May to Feb? They literally just tweeted it wouldn't be open until May.

When the other parkade and parking lots weren't filling up, I guess they figured it wasn't the end of the world. When they started losing money because they were full, I bet they quickly found a way to open a bit of P2.

Yesterday Air Canada did indeed formally announce those YYC routes for next winter, but they also added in PSP with a daily flight. HUX has also been dropped:
YYC - PSP: NEW daily A320
YYC - PVR: increase to 4x weekly A320
YYC - SJD: increase to 3x weekly A320
YYC - PHX: increase to daily A320
YYC - OGG: 4x weekly MAX 8
YYC - CUN: 3x weekly MAX 8

Would be nice if you added the city name since my limited brain doesn't memorize airport codes.

In learning so many airport codes I have forgotten lots of other things...
PSP: Palm Springs
PVR: Puerto Vallarta
SJD: Los Cabos
PHX: Phoenix
OGG: Kahului (Maui)
CUN: Cancun
HUX: Huatulco

I've gotten in the habit of just quickly googling any airport code I don't know, since I realized I was just gonna have to learn them eventually.
Ctrl+T to open a new browser tab
Type in "hux airport", press enter
Takes about 10 seconds.

Double-click airport code, right click, select "search google for ___"
The even easier way!

Think the AC flight will help bring down the costs of WS flights to PSP?

Only problem is sometimes the airport code won't give you proper results unless you include "airport" in the search.
For example, when I search PSP, I get results on the PlayStation Portable, not Palm Springs airport.

If you search YYC - PSP or YYC - OGG you will get results showing you the cities and airports.

How could it? PSP flights are regularily around $300-350 round trip (CAD too). Can you get much cheaper than that? And that is with nil competition on the route.

Wish I could find those kinds of prices. Whenever I check PSP, the flight is around double that.

There's a bit of variance in PSP fares, and yes there are ~$400 RT's to be had... but only mid-week. AC might "smooth" out the variance.
