This match should be over by at least 6-1. I guess it’s age and learning to put your opponents away when you have them on the ropes.

Credit where it's due, Shapovalov did well in that game. 30 all and second serve and then 30-40 second serve, and both times he made Edmund respond rather than giving him the point. Edmund just rose to the task on the second point and hit a great shot. Those are the kinds of things he needs to do more consistently, and the results will follow.
And then follow with a hold at love.

Man, I'm torn on that one. That's a big win over a very good player, which he hasn't done much lately... but on the other hand, it's a match that should have been over sooner than it was and shouldn't have been a nail biter at the end.

At least it didn’t go 3 sets. That’s all I got. I want Canada vs. Canada so go Milos tomorrow.
Milos is supposed to play 10:15 am on court 4.

Update from the Odlum Brown Open in Vancouver - Felix lost his first round match, but Vasek and Peter are still alive in the men's draw. Several Canadian women in action today including Genie Bouchard, Gaby Dabrowski, Rebecca Marino, Carol Zhao, and Katherine Sebov.

Robin Hasse continues his strong run of play, he knocked off Shapo at the Rogers Cup in Toronto last week and just upset #3 seed Sasha Zverev in Cincinnati this morning.

Just waiting for Milos' match to start. Looks like 11:40 a.m. now, but in the meantime, Djokovic dropped the first set versus Mannarino.

Gotta love watching what equates to these guys hitting with their coach when playing Mannarino. 85MPH muffin serves and zero winners is all that comes back to them. Terrible player.

A lot of these 100 ranked players are still carving out $500k - $1M per year in earnings.....don't think that is barely getting by Vasek.

I don't know if Vasek is referring to himself personally (I mean he's made over $5 million in earnings to date and likely a fair bit in endorsements as well), so he should be quite comfortable. Probably just looking out for his fellow players and the young up-and-coming guys.
