Blows my mind its the official first day of autumn, and it's still green out there and seemingly 95% of leaves are on the trees. I swear there's usually more leaves on the ground on August 21st than what we currently have for September 21st.

Best summer ever hasn't officially left yet...

It’s a little concerning because if we were to get a heavy snowfall, the trees will catch is all.

Yeah, we lost so many beautiful old trees in the inner city a few years ago to an early heavy snowfall with leaves still attached.

I bought a leaf blower this year, so that's likely why the leaves are still on the trees.

It sure seems like Nova Scotia is about to get smashed by Hurricane Fiona. Good luck east coasters, take this storm seriously. It has the potential to lowest pressure to ever hit Canadian shores.

Lack of frost (until last two nights) prolonging greenery maybe?

7 day looks great too - the summer that keeps on giving!

We're going to pay for this over the winter.

Yeah I'm certain that's what it is. Now that it's finally happening at night, I'm sure we'll start to see the leaves falling en masse very soon.

My relatives in Sydney had to drive to Truro yesterday for a generator as there's not one left on the Island, the power grid in Cape Breton is archaic at best and 10's of thousands could be without power for many many days or longer.

Sydney itself has many areas that can't handle storms and will be completely under water after this bad girl hits.

Have they had a frost yet? If the leaves are still on they are in for a world of hurt.

I'm sure most people on CP remember the damage from Snowtember a few years back.

Surface area for the wind to act on.

The trees in the Maritimes haven't evolved with the forecast windspeeds. The risk would be much less if the petioles have been frosted those leaves will blow away.

Add in the heavy rain and the trees will be uprooted. Again they haven't evolved with these windspeeds.

A guy on the radio today was harvesting apples in the Annapolis Valley, so I’d imagine the leaves are still on those trees. I’m not sure how much of a factor that is, and that’s further south than the direct hit further north.

The tree's are still full, even the famous Cape Breton fall colors are late this year as they've had great weather...up till this weekend it seems

It's the last week of September, I'm in Bowness park in 20 degree weather in shorts and flip-flops, and most of the trees are still full of green leaves. 20 years in Calgary and I don't think I've ever seen this

If there is one thing Calgarians have in abundance, it's incredibly short term memory for weather. This isn't all that unusual. I mean, sure, some years we may have snow, but we also get this some years.

Like, last year at this time the week of the 20th had a 25.9 and the week of the 27th had a 23.9.
