Thiem is my 2nd favorite player on tour, this is great to see him winning again. His backhand is pure poetry

Meh, Felix just lost to Kubler (had a match point at 30-40 on the Kubler serve, but couldn't cash in). You can't be blasting forehands two feet long on match point, at least force your opponent to come up with an answer.

the way Shapo swings a racquet I can understand why the ball flies on him at the worst moments, but I can't figure out why it happens for Felix. to my eye, his footwork and swing are clean and uncomplicated but the reliability just isn't there. too flat? need to add some RPMs at the cost of losing depth?

I think at times he just goes for too much and needs to aim for larger targets. I think you make a valid point about adding RPM's though.

Thiem drops a hard fought match to Sebastian Baez 6-2 6-7 6-4. The young kid from Argentina loves the dirt.

Well, the grass swing is over for 2022 which likely makes Maxime Cressy sad as he won the grass tourney in Newport, Rhode Island earlier today over Bublik.

So the tennis gods have a sense of humor as two guys under investigation for match fixing face each other in Hamburg later today (Karatsev vs. Basilashvili)

Karatsev wins 6-4 6-0 over Basilashvili - I guess tanking goes hand-in-hand with match fixing.

Rebecca Marino only needs one more player to withdraw and she will be placed in the main draw for the US Open. The chances of that happening are very good.
