Default video card recommendations

Hi Smart people.

I'm looking for a video card suggestion.

I run three monitors, two on my desk and one goes through to my TV.

Also would like to have about 2 gb's of video memory.

Any suggestions?

If you're not looking for anything too wild/expensive, any $!50-$250 card from either manufacturer will meet your needs. Most do at least 3-4 video outputs (though some format conversion dongles may be required, eg. DP to HDMI). You could even look into used cards, generally you can get last generation flagship for ~$300 bucks.

I don't know much about cards, but...

https://www.amazon.ca/XFX-RX-570P8DF...cm_wl_huc_item

$210 for an 8GB card???? That's it???

https://www.amazon.ca/Geforce-Phoeni...e-deals&sr=8-7

If it's more NVidia you prefer, this 4GB card is $250. $179 if you're willing to do open box.

I would check out MemEx if you are in Calgary, Amazon gets beat on pricing by them quite a bit. For example relative to the two cards above, you can get a 580 xxx (step up) and a 1650 (step up) for cheaper at MemEx.

I went to Mem Ex and bought the 1650 and opened my computer up and it doesn't have the 8 pronged power cord from the ps for the graphics card. I'm looking at some low power options that don't need to be hooked right to the PS.

Unfortunately they don't carry any low power options that can do 3 monitors. So I'm doing a little shopping.

Jeez. Graphics cards have come a damn long way in terms of capability and value if thatís the case. I am happily surprised as Iíll be contemplating a new build around Black Friday/cyber Monday.

Dumb question, but are you required to do low power mode? Assuming that if maybe you donít game and only stream and whatnot, would somehow using a 3 monitor display docking station like this work? (Not even sure if it would work on a desktop, but I assume it does as long as the correct drivers are installed).

https://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX76860

is the card that should have been asked for as it is the denuded one without the pcie 6 pin.

shows stock in the NE and NW stores.

ask for the SKU# MX76860 for extra clarity to the salesperson.

do you know what the power supply is in the victim computer?
some of the regular OEM's (Dell, Lenovo, whatever garbage Walmart/Bestbuy sells) cut down on parts so much that user upgrade-ability is not recommended. and multimonitor nirvana may need to be reached via USB->video adapters like the above, but that requires USB 3.0

YMMV. Also it will need to fit a full height video card.

Also you may need a display port to hdmi/dvi cable as well for triple display support depending on what monitors it is being plugged into.

Ten bucks: Dual Molex to 8 Pin PCI-E Adapter Cable

I would doubt in today's day and age you're still using any peripherals that require Molex power connectors, so I'm sure you have some to spare.
