Snell is looking ridiculous. Not to repeat the commentators but 9 strikeouts through 4 innings is ridiculous. I really hope they let him ride as you can't get any better than this.
And he gets pulled. Tampa has a great bullpen so they'll probably do fine with the overmanaging here, but again, when the guy is showing no signs of letting up, I don't see why they wouldn't keep him in. Seems to be the theme for the first year where starters are given a very short leash. Can't say I'm a fan of it.

Well. If the Ray's end up losing this, I'm glad it'll be because of one of Cash's "analytical" decisions. Same freakin reason why I can't stand Montoyo sometimes. Use your eyes man. Not a stat sheet.

And on truly bad luck too. Ball on Betts double sticks on the wall so runner advances to third, and scores on wild pitch, Betts advances to third, and then is easy to score on hard hit on infield.
Does any of this happen if Blake keeps pitching? And why on earth against the top of the order.
And now TB has to get something out of the black hole of their middle and late batting order. Yikes...

There was certainly some luck, but there's a psychological side of sports that many people don't get. As a player coming in fresh, when you see a guy dominating it can be intimidating to live up to those expectations. He simply didn't pitch well. I hope these managers learn to think outside the box in the new year because that move surely wasn't needed. I'm annoyed because I want to see TB win.
Just turned the game on. Why did Snell get pulled? It was the first run scored. What sort of advanced analytics would suggest that pulling Snell would work out well?

It was actually 1-0 TB at the time. He let a runner on first but was absolutely killing it. One of the best starts of all time I'd guess. The problem with following probabilities is there's a chance of being wrong which people don't get. When your player is playing so damn well, those chances of that player letting in a run are minimal. I guess that's the problem with former players who aren't formally trained in statistics and understanding them. So they stick to the plan based on gut and his odds at getting it wrong increased to go to a fresher guy.
YES!
Dodgers are built through the draft. Yep payroll. Yep Mookie trade. But they draft well and bring in players who flourish (Turner, Muncy etc)
Kershaw
Buehler
Seager
Bellinger
Urias
May
Etc

Wow. Turner got a positive result mid game and had to leave. Holy hell I was wondering why he was out because it seemed like he was a defensive liability.
Imagine if there was a game tomorrow.
