Really hard to take Kevin James seriously in that as a bad ass villain. He's been a lovable goof ball for so long.

We watch The Chicago 7 last night on Netflix last night. Was a fantastic movie I thought. We really enjoyed it.

Tenet was just okay. Visually amazing, really interesting concept but the lack of any meaningful character development hurt it.

Kajillionaire was fun. Debra Winger and Richard Jenkins are legendary.

I was going to post the trailer but it gives too much away. Go in blind.

Picked up the new Scream Factory release of Friday the 13th so I'm going through them again. It's been well over 10 years since I've watched them.

Watched the first one yesterday and it's great and plays it mostly serious which adds to the terror.

Watched the 2nd one today and it's also really good. Not quite as good as the first but a very worthy sequel in my opinion.

Just recently watched a bunch of these as part of my October horror movie marathon. 1, 2, and 4 are still my favorites.

I just finished watching and Old 1990 Harrison Ford movie called "Presumed Innocent." The ending was probably the best part.

Just watched Bong Joon-ho's 2nd film Memories of Murder (2003) last night, and wow is it great. If you are a fan of films like Zodiac or shows like True Detective, then you should really catch it. Ahead of the curve, for sure. We saw it in theatre (Landmark) as it is getting a theatrical re-release with a new digital remaster. I don't think it's streaming anywhere in Canada yet, but it's definitely worth searching out/waiting for. I'm guessing with the success of Parasite, his harder to find films are (deservedly) getting more attention.

Yup, it's one of my favourites. His film Mother is great too.

As for other Korean murder thrillers... The Chaser is also fantastic and worth seeking out, and for something more of a horror, I Saw the Devil.

Came to praise Memories of Murder too. I felt it took a bit to get moving, but overall a fantastic film. Some absolutely wonderful scenes.

Feels extremely fresh despite being from 2003 and set in the eighties.

Would also recommend checking out the wiki for the real world case that inspired the movie.

Love that show! Super creepy.

Terms like underrated get thrown around way, way too much when discussing movies. But I genuinely believe The Good Shepherd is one of the most underrated movies of the last two decades. It was neither a critical or box office success and has basically no legacy or awards noms. It’s also 3 hours long.

Love this movie.

Just finished the Good Shepherd.

Honestly, I don’t think it was that strong. Really the only thing I’d say about it is that yeah, it’s almost 3 hours long.

Finally watched the new Bill & Ted sequel, and it's just so delightfully goofy and fun. I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would.

I watched a couple of band themed films last weekend.

The Commitments is an Irish film from 1991, voted at one point the best Irish film of all time (in a popularity contest). It was pretty entertaining, some really solid musical performances. Was a bit of a hit at the time. Working/lower class people put up a soul band in Dublin, have some success and fight a lot.

The other one is probably pretty obscure, but if you're a metal head to any extent, do yourself a favour and seek out Heavy Trip (orig. Hevi Reissu), a Finnish film from 2018. It's quickly becoming a cult film in certain circles, for a good reason. It's a pretty dumb film, and parts of it are really forgettable, but the good parts are just effing hilarious. The guys in the band are all such archetypes. The bass player Pasi especially

A couple of scenes:

I loved this film, it so lovingly captures that "small metal band out of nowhere" feeling.
