The Washington Football Team is following the Edmonton Football Team's lead.

Much respect:

Meanwhile, the Chiefs now have a very large hole in front of their 0.45 billion QB.

Seahawks gave up a ton for Adams. Note to young players: actively trashing your HC in the media can help grease the rails for a trade

Hey Bill O’Brien. That’s the kind of return you should get when you trade an all pro.

It's an overpay, but Russ isn't getting any younger so you might as well take some chances to open that window now.

I think Carroll and Schneider want one more go at it, and they have a two year window. My guess is Carroll retires in 2y, and Wilson wants to move gets his wish around the same time, and there will be a rebuild. Until then, go for it and worry about the draft picks (or get them back in the Wilson trade) later, which are usually in the mid 20s anyway, and Seattle has traded down anyways most of the last 5 years in the draft out of the first round. To get an all pro 24 year old now, makes that tradeoff easier to swallow.

The defense was very poor last year, the worst under Carroll in his 10 years, and 1 and 3 in last 4 to choke away the NFC, including inches short against SF did them in. Beat SF that last game and last play, and Seattle has a bye and home field in the divisional game, and the season would've ended a lot different then a tough road loss to GB. Defense now appears better, Wilson gets help at his favourite passing position (TE) in Olsen, and a couple adds at WR.
So basically an upgrade, with no major losses except Clowney if he doesn't come back, and the 4 running backs are an issue too. Wilson needs to have a big year again, but on paper they are better set then last year.

I like the trade. Sucks giving up two 1sts but thats the price you have to pay when you're bidding against a divisional rival. Plus they should be late first round picks.

Adams and Diggs gives Hawks a pretty good safety tandem. Griffin is a good corner. Wagner leads the LBs. At this point you gotta go and get Clowney and hope Reed bounces back and Ford takes another step that would be a good line. Overall D has improved especially if the knucklehead they got from Washington in Dunbar is allowed to play.

Russ is MVP candidate. RB game should be good. Lockett / DK / Dissly are good and hopefully Josh Gordon gets reinstated so thats good set of ball catchers. The question is re-tooled OL, see if any of those guys are legit. To me O will come down to play calling, you can't just pound the ball when you have Russ, get creative and use the receivers you have if the OL can hold up.

So big addition in Adams if the trenches hold up. Should be a fun season and some exciting divisional games.

Not sure how many more years Carroll will coach so it makes sense for Seattle to go all-in but man that's an extremely steep price for a safety. This isn't a position like DE where he's going to influence games like Mack or a top LT (Tunsil) that's going to keep your QB clean every snap. Adams should be good in Seattle as Carroll is one of the best defensive coaches in football but the AFC East is deep and all this trade does is ensure they will be in the hunt as the 49ers are still the best team. That's a lot to give up for a team that will likely be in the NFC Wildcard battle and they made the mistake of not firing KNJ which doesn't bode well as he has no business being a DC even if it's in name only in Seattle.

I love this trade from the Jets perspective as they are treading water right now anyway and those three picks if used right could accelerate the rebuild and in the event Darnold doesn't improve they may have currency to draft another QB in 2022.

NFL Network's Andrew Siciliano reporting that so far 6 Patriots have opted out of the 2020 season:

Dont'a Hightower, Patrick Chung, Brandon Bolden, Dick Vitale, Marcus Cannon, Najee Toran.

Especially with what's happened in baseball the past 2 days, and how the NFL will have a similar non-hub city structure, I'm starting to wonder if this season is going to be a wash.

Season will not happen. And if it does, it will be cancelled partway through. No non-hub league has a chance in hell.

Yeah this is an issue that the NFL won't be able to solve by throwing money at it. Baseball players don't even really come into contact with each other and it went right through the Marlins locker room. The bubble concept isn't proven of yet but the early signs are much more encouraging than just starting up the league and crossing your fingers that players will not contract the virus when you have 32 teams crossing the country weekly.

It did work alright in Europe with the soccer leagues. But I agree, this seems destined to fail before it even starts.

It could be the perfect season to tank. It's going to be a mess and if they somehow manage to finish the season the Super Bowl could come down to that teams have the most starting players available. With Brady gone and all these losses not even Belichick is going to be able to salvage this season.

How do you tank when there is no season? What would be the draft order - same as last draft?

Well there's a good chance the NFL will go ahead for better or worse but doubtful there will be a college season so I'm not sure what would happen in that event.

The other thing with NFL that hurts them is roster size.

MLB and NHL can get away with 30 man rosters.

NBA is in the best situation with only 15 man rosters.

But the NFL has 53 man rosters, and 13 man practice squads. Trying to keep a bubble or limit the spread when you have 2x the players as MLB/NHL, and 4x the roster of NBA teams is going to be tough.

That's before you consider the expanded coaching / medical staffs these NFL teams have compared to the other leagues.

very true, but the distances were shorter, the schedule was condensed and the rosters much smaller ... plus the US has obviously turned into a much bigger Covid hotspot than most European countries. It will be much more difficult for the NFL to pull it off. Fingers crossed, but I'm not very optimistic.
