I really don't get this. The average entrance scholarship to USC is less than an A-. If your kids aren't getting those kinds of marks in high school, they're likely to not do so well once actually in college. Once you add in tuition and other costs, you're looking at $1 million to get two kids C average degrees. At what point are you better off using you're resources elsewhere.

It's pretty well known kids on athletic scholarships get nothing but A+ marks

She will probably only serve a fraction of that considering how over crowded prisons are.

Oh please, that's simply not true. It is true that athletes tend to have a lot more support than the average student. For example, our athletes have an employee dedicated to monitoring their grades and keeping them on track, but the student is ultimately responsible. We give them consideration on deadlines if they are competing, but that's it.

Trust me, student athletes in my class span the range of grades the way any normal distribution does. I get A-D students who are evaluated that way, and there is no push back from anyone in our administration. However, if a student has a GPA below 2.5 they are not allowed to compete until their grades improve to provide incentive to maintain a healthy GPA.

The onus always goes back on the student to perform at least at an adequate level, and A grades are never given unless they are earned.

I can't speak to some of these big schools that have giant sports programs, but for most schools it simply isn't that way at all. There's no way we could maintain accreditation as a degree granting institution if it was found that student athletes average GPA was 1-1.5 points higher than the rest of the student body. I've been through the process of maintaining accreditation, and it's like an audit. They look at everything to make sure it is being conducted properly.

That's right, Loughlin will be out early because the prison is a Full House.

I thought the idea was that they were just using the athletics as a way to slip through admissions with a poor transcript.

Anyways were talking about USC, not Harvard
It's far from a sure thing.
