Put avg on the laptop a couple days ago froze the computer and wouldn't boot up.Had to go into safe mode and uninstall it.

The paid version of AVG only causes your computer to slow to a crawl.

Free versions of Bitdefender and Bitdefender anti-ransomware. They sit in the background and don't cause any problems, automatically update and do their scans. Installed in all my computers and my Nexus 7.

I'm using Avast coupled with Malwarebytes and Superantispyware Free edition.

Avast is automatic, but with the free versions of malwarebytes and Super Antispyware you need to manually do scans which is NBD for me personally.
