lanny Edmonton to host 2023 Heritage Classic: Flames expected to be opponent

Quote:
The game is scheduled to be played in October 2023. The date hasn’t been finalized and neither has the opponent. But it should be the Calgary Flames. I expect it will be. The plan is to have an alumni game as well, similar to what they did in 2003. But expect a younger wave of alumni to lace up their skates than the ones you watched 20 years ago — players like Ryan Smyth, Doug Weight, Jason Smith, and Dwayne Roloson for the Oilers, and you could see the likes of Jarome Iginla, Robyn Regehr, Craig Conroy and others in red and yellow.
Interesting.

Roloson also played for the Flames, though.

Who you could see in an alumni game, sure, but who you will see?

The usuals from 89.

Heritage Classic could be fun but the Oiler celebration will ruin any of it.

Polished up that article.

Someone has to scan tickets, let people in, etc.

Commonwealth is a piece of #### stadium... but it should be a fun atmosphere to have 55,000 Flames and Oilers fans in one place.

And October should be better weather than when they had it in February.

Hopefully they'll have added some more circular urinals by then.

I’d like to see the red or white pedestal brought back for this one. Give it a 90’s theme.

Interesting so early in the season when the weather could be in the double digit positives. I was in Edmonton in October of this year and it was 25 degrees

yeah. Sure pales in comparison to that monument to perfection called McMahon. you want a piece of #### stadium, look in your own backyard.

Only thing wrong really wrong with Commonwealth is that stupid track that puts you so far from the field. stadium is fine. just not great for football.

McMahon is the biggest piece of #### in all of Canada.

That does not take away from the fact that Commonwealth also a piece of ####.

Difference is that Commonwealth has a higher seating capacity and that's it.

? What?

The Stadium sucks. Is it better than McMahon? Sure, in the same way a '92 corolla is better than a '89 K car.

After I moved I thought I had 5 trips to Edmonton left in my life, then my cousin decided to get married in her living room during covid and that figure went down to four. The mere thought of being at a point in my life where Edmonton is a destination I could spend time in makes me feel like a loser.

This is terrible news to allow a team and the city/fans that embrace them such an obvious money grab. It was a proud moment when Edmonton was overlooked for World Cup matches, this is a step back.
