RIP Mr. King.

I didnt always agree with him, or like things he did but I respected him. He did amazing work in his family, in this City and for our Organization and he will be dearly missed.

Awful news. A man who did a hell of a lot for hockey in Calgary and Alberta.

RIP, Mr. King.

He has been sick for quite a while, fighting up and down, but the last few months were very tough.

He was a great man, and cared about this team and city so much.
More importantly, he loved his family so much.

He is my uncle. I love him and will miss him dearly.

I too experienced his handshake in 04 when he stopped by our tailgate. It was great to have him stop and chat.

A great leader for the organization. RIP Mr. King.

I remember when I walked past Ken when I worked at the Saddledome. He gave me a fist bump on my way into work during the playoffs last year and told me to have a good shift. Seemed like a very friendly guy. May he RIP.

Wholesome Ken King story:

I cancelled my season tickets with the flames 2 seasons ago, and when they asked why I wrote back a pretty scathing email about how I was not a fan of how they were handling the arena situation, and specifically KK's public statements on the matter. I thought that would be the end of it and didnt really think anything of it

About a week later I am sitting at my desk and my phone rings, and it's Ken King calling. He spent about 45 minutes on the phone with me, a former nosebleed STH, talking about a whole bunch of topics I never thought I would with the CEO of the Flames.

While he didn't change my mind about the subject of the arena, I gained an incredible amount of respect for the man and am very sad to hear he lost his battle with cancer. From the sounds of it my experience isn't isolated and he was a great person and businessman, RIP

I heard this was coming quite a while ago from an insider (well, second hand insider). But he lasted much longer than predicted. Good fighter, him.

Had my back slapped a few times at the Dome by him. Genuinely seemed to like the get out and meet fans aspect of the job.

Condolences IANKK. And F### cancer, as always.
