Flames recall Dube who will play vs VGK
Expecting the corresponding move to be sending down Quine. If Quine plays one more NHL game he will need waivers again to be sent down. He was also at 23 of 30 days on the NHL roster before needing waivers again.
Kristen Anderson
@KdotAnderson
#Flames starting Cam Talbot, winger Dillon Dube (who was called up this morning) will be in the lineup vs. Vegas.

Let the callups begin. We need some enthusiasm, youth, truculent play. No more stinkers .
We showed some heart last night ...let's move forward with that.

Let’s give Dube some quality linemates. He’s used to getting a lot of minutes in Stockton, let’s give him an opportunity to prove himself with 13/14 minutes. For all we know he proves us that he should be in the NHL for good.

I'd like to see what Dube can do on 2nd line wing.

Who's that going to be? Going to need to make some trades for that to happen.

Probably on the wing with Jankowski and Lucic, with 80% defensive zone starts.
It's always bugged me a bit. The first game up for a player with first line promise should be on a scoring line. Maybe the problem is, that in Calgary, the second line is the shutdown line, so it's first line or trawling for shrimp.
I know that it's a novel idea, but maybe they should try two scoring lines.

Yep. Structural issue with how the team is built. Backlund needs to be our 3rd line centre on our shutdown line.

Mangiapane - Bennett - Dube. The actually-gives-a-crap line.

Good, at least they're trying some new ideas.
Maybe a trade is next. The teams needs a breath of fresh ####ing air in it. It's been water torture to watch this handicapped group that clearly looks unable to take a step forward ever since January.

Call up feels like a band aid on a gsw, but at least it's something pointing towards trying to fix things. If it doesnt work, then it's on to the next phase. Looking outside the organization.

I think there is an unused idea that Peters seems reluctant to use: break up the lines into pairs for an extended period of time, at least 5 games. None of this, "Okay, it's been 10 minutes into the first period, I've seen enough, back to the normal lines that aren't working anymore."
Johnny-Monahan
Tkachuk-Lindholm
Backlund-Frolik
Ryan-Mangiapane
I'd be open to changing the pairs up, but waiting for the top line to catch fire is burning away our season.

Excellent news. I was stunned he wasn't on the opening roster.
Like last season when I couldn't believe Andrew Mangiapane started in the A, but that was corrected when they finally realized their error and recalled him for good, hopefully Dube is kept up for the remainder of the season as he's already an upgrade on some roster players and has a very promising future.
