You aren’t wrong. The Flames will need to play well just to remain 500 by the end of the month. Regardless of how they’ve played this year, the next two weeks is a rough part of the schedule.

Lazar and Kostka for Jokipakka and a 2nd

Jokipakka was only technically an NHL player at that point though. He played two more games that year then never played another NHL game

Jones for Backstrom and a 6th

Backstrom had played zero games that year and only played four more in his entire career. Jones played 16 more games before retiring.

Not exactly consequential moves, and both were at the deadline.

Lindholm / Hanifin for Ferland / Hamilton? Still your point stands, I can't think of many. Especially not in season.

He's used the buyouts, firing coaches, this is his team.

That being said, i think last year's results (tops in the west) likely gives him another year. He's articulate, and s likeable guy, but his GM moves and results are highly average. I'd be happy to see him get the boot but that's me. I also think the things that annoy me about him are moves most gm's would make. I want a gm willing to make the hard moves. I am specifically talking about the Backlund deal.

Didn’t they just extend his contract like a few months ago? I doubt they’d fire him if they did so. Other than last year, this is pretty much how every season goes. It’s been a tough two decades. It looks like it’s almost rebuild time again. Johnny and Mony and Sam Bennett just haven’t panned out like I thought they would a couple years ago when everyone was thinking our future was so bright. Our best player is Tkachuk...let’s build around him. Maybe take a run at Taylor Hall.

I have said that Johnny should sit for a game or two, and my suggestion was shot down so hard.
Not sure what needs to be done, maybe two shutouts in a row is what the team needed to wake them up.
