Great show. Weekend Update was really good, loved the bit by Pete Davidson.

Haha, a really great SNL short that got cut from Gal Gadot's show due to time:

We asked 25 cast members, hosts and writers about the most memorable SNL sketch they wrote, starred in or just saw on TV. Their answers were full of great stories and surprising picks.

If that's what they cut out, what they left in must be pure gold.

I'm a huge fan of Kumail Nanjiani so I was thrilled for him to be able to host this week, but it was a pretty poor episode overall. They leaned too much on him being Pakistani, but he was pretty great, in my opinion.

I'm tired of Baldwin's Trump impression. It's not good at all, and it still bothers me how he #### talked Anthony Atamanuik.

I haven't been the biggest Colin Jost fan, but he had the biggest laugh of the night. The Niger joke was perfect. Che's "All Holidays Matter" should become the regular retort to the War of Christmas people.

Not a great ep, but his monologue and those 2 Update jokes made up for it.

I thought they could have done more with a few sketches that seemed to go nowhere, or didn't quite land: the Hep A, game show, and hotel bits

An Oral History of ‘David Pumpkins’

The story of Saturday Night Live’s most improbable breakout character.

Great article. It's interesting that in this account, Tom Hanks seems to be fairly confident about the sketch. But about a month ago, Bobby Moynihan told Seth Meyers that Tom Hanks had misgivings about the sketch between dress rehearsal and air:

If you live under a rock like me, and never heard of David Pumpkins, I found the original video below. It really is fantastic. Love reading how the sketch evolved from a germ of an idea to what it became:

I thought nearly the entire Halloween special was cringe worthy. There were maybe 1 or 2 funny sketches.

At least the christmas special has a ton of great material, even if it is the exact same bits year after year and they keep leaving out the funniest xmas sketch and funniest Eddie Murphy sketch of all time. (the Mr Robinson one where he talks about cabbage patch kids and escapes thru the window.)

Couldn't find a video, best I can do is the transcript, which is still hilarious when you read it in Murphy's voice.

Spoiler!

some great insight into some pretty classic sketches - but this si the third or fourth time I have went tot eh RS website, and it is so slow even at work, it becomes frustrating to use

I didn't recognize her name, but I've seen her in a lot of stuff. There are definitely hosts over the years I've known less than her. Like Taylor Lautner... Right up until the moment he walked through the door, I was expecting it to be a woman.

I wonder how they will deal with terror attack (and Mueller indictments).

One of the most moving TV moments for me was Paul Simon doing The Boxer in front of the first responders after 9/11.

Watch here (their hurt and resolve gets me every time):
