It's been growing on me as the day goes on. I think it's kind of awesome, especially for Philly. He's like a dirtbag version of the Philly Fanatic, which is great.

Isn’t Brent Burns still on contract with the Sharks? This seems like a breach of the CBA

Man, this thread is such a wake up call that it's time to put Harvey out to stud and embrace the Age of Scorch.

My almost four year old gives the mascot a resounding seal of approval.

That’s correct. Batteries were the weapon of choice for Phillies fans.

Quote:
Turns out, Philly sports fan actually did throw batteries onto a sports field in 1999. Fans of the Phillies baseball team were upset when J.D. Drew, who was once drafted by the Phillies but refused to sign, played against the home team for the St. Louis Cardinals, which fans saw as a sign of betrayal.

The crowd proceeded to ridicule Drew with chants, and some even went as far as to throw batteries at him, which is something Phillies fans joke about doing.

Since then, throwing batteries has become somewhat of an urban legend amongst diehard Philly fans, a tradition of sorts.

My dad played for the Flyers in the 80s. Throwing batteries is not a new thing. And not philly specific either. He said their bus would be running a gauntlet of batteries, eggs and boobs whenever leaving Madison Square Garden.
