I overheard on Sirius NFL radio over the weekend something from one of the beat writers that made a lost of sense. He was saying the days of the journeymen QB starting in this league are dwindling. If you draft a QB in the first round there's no point in having him sit on the bench if you are going to trot out journeymen QB's like Taylor, Peterman, Bradford, etc that are realistically no better. Why subject your paying customers poor journeymen QB play when you can at least use the season as experience for the newly drafted franchise QB? The Chiefs situation was ideal because Smith was still good so Mahomes could hold a clip board and work on his game for a year but most teams should not be wasting seasons starting stop-gap QB's if they have invested highly in a young QB.

Just saw this pointed out on PFT, but the 49ers have five primetime games between weeks 6 and 13. So either sign Kaepernick or Favre or Tebow or Manziel to at least make them somewhat worth watching.

Might be the worst tackling safety I've ever seen. He basically stays employed by making a few turnovers a year, while getting torched and embarrassed most of the rest of the game.

Well hitting the helmet has been roughing for a little bit longer, but it's still ridiculous that that "roughing" is a 15 yard penalty. Maybe they need to start having a 5 yard illegal touching of the QB penalty or something.
