Also, the Canyon was basically empty. Maybe a half-dozen other people there, and no one but us in the actual Canyon itself. Pretty good day!

Its not bad, but Horsethief Canyon >> Horseshoe Canyon, imo. Much more fun to walk around in and I'd say a more impressive view.

That’s absolutely awesome! A really great letter. Teachers deserve so much praise for all they do.

Grounds crew have painted lines and were cutting/trimming grass on the sports fields at Shouldice when I drove by this morning. After so long with no sports this made me very happy and is a sign we are returning to normal. A big FU to Covid this morning, that makes me happy.

My boy has been back smashing people in rugby since June 10, it has been really good to see.

After buying a new phone and feeling so vulnerable to damage, installing the case and screen protector makes me feel good and protected sort of like my 2nd COVID shot.

Went for a late night walk over to Confluence Park last night and was amazed to see fireflies. I never knew they existed around here. It was pretty neat experience.

Flavoured tobacco ban is so frickin dumb. I can't get the occasional vanilla cigar but some 16 year old can go by a strawberry flavoured vape.

16 year olds can't buy flavoured vapes. Nicotine sales are banned to anyone under the age of 18, just like tobacco.
I don't see any valid comparison between the two. Tobacco is objectively worse. However if you're going to make regular tobacco products available, I don't see why flavours are banned.
Getting teens to avoid nicotine addictions of any kind is a separate issue that needs to be addressed. Banning flavoured vapes is about as smart as banning flavoured alcohol.

I don't have skin in this game, but the ban on flavored tobacco is so dumb.
That's the equivalent of Alberta saying we will allow beer sales, but we will only allow the sale of bad tasting beer to curb consumption.

I believe the difference is that flavored tobacco is more kinda marketed towards younger kids/adults.
Alcohol wise, I think it's more along the lines of the restrictions of pre-mixed caffeine/alcohol products that were also targeting the young adult crowd.

Just got back from a sail on Glenmore reservoir, felt great to be out on the water with no one around. Gorgeous day with some clouds for shelter. Then the wind picked up, I had some great tacks...and then my boat broke. Fortunately the fairlead flew straight up then landed in my cockpit, and I was able to limp back to the dock. She's 49 years old, so I guess parts falling off shouldn't be unexpected. I feel the same way some days.

Not a big deal. Fill the hole with epoxy, screw it back in. Just part of the joys of boat ownership!

I know it's a little thing, but during this stupid pandemic it's the little things that can keep a smile on your face.

Update on 'Mama Bird', as we have the boys calling her:
It was just the 3/4 that hatched, but all three successfully grew up and left the nest. We were pleased to see a week later, Mama Bird returned and laid another 4 eggs. This time all 4 have hatched! We must have a good spot.

WRMMH is going for sushi on my own sometimes (like tonight). I can order all the weird and tasty stuff I want, I drink lots of Japanese beer, and I end up always just enjoying my own company. I’m starting to enjoy going to restaurants more and more on my own in general as I get older. Some people find it weird, but I just love it.
