It's 2019 and Goldust is putting on a 5-star match. Just goes to show how stifling WWE is.

This has been pretty good. A few hiccups but the in-ring storytelling has been well done.

AMBROSE! Well that was fun. The ending to the Omega/Jericho match was kinda dumb but overall a solid card. AEW's tagline should be: Wrestling you're not embarrassed to show your friends.

Its funny, because the WWE gave Ambrose/Moxley a warm sendoff, did a whole network special and him,a and on him and the shield, maybe they thought he was going to retire, or come back someday.
I'm sure someone in the WWE isn't looking forward to the Tuesday morning staff meeting.

I honestly loved that show. It reminded me of Attitude-era wrestling with less screwy finishes and better wrestling. Bucks vs. Lucha Bros was outstanding.

What did you wrestle heads think of the PPV? I don't watch a lot of wrestling. Very curious on your opinion of the first Elite wrestling PPV.
I'm asking for a friend.

I didn't know much about this show but I figured it was coming up when I saw a metric crap tonne of AEW t-shirts all over the Vegas strip the past couple of days.
I even saw a group of guys walking through Aria 3 of them were wearing nWo t-shirts. I thought nothing of it, just thought they were a part of a party or something. I also discovered that Starrcade was happening from the 23rd until 26th. Had I known that I would have spent time wandering through Caesar's Palace instead of passing by on the outside.

100% had the attitude era feel
Some of the stuff was a bit much, I think Dustin bladed a bit too much, or took a few extra aspirin before the match. But it's nice to see they will legit not be a pg product, adds more to the excitement of it. Was shocked I didnt hear JR drop a crimson mask line
Cody's ego is a tad worrisome as well with the shot at hunter too, but I do think he realizes hes not the star and wont make himself the main eventer. But as a storyteller hes incredible.
There were 4 excellent matches and none were below very good, the moxley ending was great, hes their stone cold imo
Also MJF will be pushed to the moon, he is such a good heel, reminds me of someone like miz who just gets how to make people hate him
Super impressed with a few people I hadnt seen, or if I had, hadnt noticed. Luchasauras is awesome

Yeah that was my "what the hell was that?" moment.
That said, his post match interview was hilarious.

What a show. That was outstanding.
Cody vs Dustin was my favorite match.
Glad Moxley is getting a platform that will let him show what he can really do.
And if Punk somehow shows up at All Out I'm gonna lose it.

Funny enough, I haven't seen that much electricity in an American non-WWE wrestling show since Hogan/Goldberg in Atlanta for that huge Nitro show. That had some Attitude-era vibes too with JR calling a Stone Cold-esque run-in by Moxley.
MJF is also the next huge heel star. Dude is incredible in the ring and on the mic.
AEW still has lots of proving to do, but it is easily the best roster to challenge WWE, and gives the fans that fresh new product (non family-rated) they're looking for.

Historically that Hogan/Goldberg show was viewed as the real start to the end of WCW and it was caused by Eric's ego.
They basically gave away a huge PPV payoff for free because Eric viewed ratings and beating WWE as more important then revenue at that point.
If any of you haven't read the book the death of WCW, its not only an amazing read, but also WWE is making a lot of the same mistakes, with bad storylines, disgruntled performers and a out of touch management group that seems to be on auto pilot.
I don't know if AEW is a legitimate threat to WWE or if they will view it as such, though that PPV is a strong opening salvo. AEW has to continue to build on that. But WWE is still incredibly powerful.
I was surprised that Mark Henry showed up at AEW even as a member of the media, he's still a WWE employee and a producer.
Also just an add on, I woke up this morning, I'm off for memorial day, and I turned on the network and they were showing the NXT combine and were treating it almost like a NFL combine show.
