So they'll have Elliott(When he returns), Neuvirth and now Mrazek. Wonder what happens there. Neuvirth trade?
edit: saw Neuvirth is injured now too.

Didn't they just turn down Mrazek for only a 3rd rounder last week? lol.

Injuries suck.

Maybe he turns it around in Philly. One of the people I remember from the WJC in Calgary where he was stellar. Was a starter 2 years ago and only 26

Mrazek was highly thought of two off-seasons ago. This is kind of amazing how quickly perceived value changes.

A lot of posters had him as their ideal target not long ago.

Yeah I would have traded the 6OA for Mrazek back then.

He looked like he was only going up and up and he was only 24. I wondered what the Wings did to him.

Good thing I'm not the GM.

I really think that the Flyers will have a stellar playoff run if they make it with Mrazek. In my opinion, he's going to take the starting job from Elliott.

I'm kind of shocked that the Islanders weren't in on this.

Well it was either they got someone like Mrazek or try to run into the playoffs with Alex Lyon. Anthony Stolarz looks like he hasnt even played a game yet this year. And I really dont think they wanna call up Carter Hart anytime soon.

Elliotts season is done and Neuvirth is out how long?

Good trade for Philly. only because they REALLY had to. like desperately, and they managed not to get totally fleeced.

Not sure I like this deal for Detroit at all. I know he’s regressed but this is the best you could do? Why not wait until closer to the deadline? And then retaining salary?

Gross.

Will be interesting if Mrazek turns it around like Markstrom sort of has been in Vancouver. He has been terrible. To add to it, apparently his attitude has also been terrible.

It is a reach for Philly right now trying to gamble on Mrazek, but he did have the talent and trajectory not very long ago. Will be interesting to see how he does there.

I think he could be a guy that just needs a fresh start. Could be a good pickup for Philly. They have three decent goalies now (though no elite ones).

I don't watch as many wings games as I used to, but with Mrazek, he just started to slump last year and never quite turned it around. I think it was a snowball effect of the deteriorating wings D giving up too many chances and that caused him to try and do too much. To me it looked more mental as opposed to a change in mechanics or positioning.

For the Wings, this is typical poor roster management. They committed to Howard long term, but Mrazek had a few years of outplaying Howard and they didn't want to move him. Could have gotten much more value had they pulled the trigger back then. Hindsight is always 20/20, but the problem the wings have is that much more often than not, Holland gets it wrong.

On the one hand, it's a good bet for the Flyers. His upside is as a starter. Even as a backup, what do they lose?

On the other hand, if there was anywhere I wouldn't expect a goalie to go to rekindle his flagging career, it's the goalie graveyard that is Philadelphia.

On the third hand, if I had one, they did manage to get solid value out of Steve Mason, which wasn't a totally dissimilar situation.
