I also thought I read somewhere that it was Toews and Kane who pushed management to bring Saad back as they felt he was an important missing piece from the team after they traded him away.

Ooooo. Going through TSN and the story pops up, Kreiders been cleared to play. Add another guy to the list of Dammage79's players list of who i would want the Flames to grab.

Right now with Smith hurt I think LA likes their chances of making the playoffs.

Andersson is scoring at a 0.77ppg clip in the AHL. I think he pretty clearly is ready. They should find a new home for Stone. Actually they should move Hamonic but obviously that isn’t happening.

Hamonic >> Stone
So I'm assuming you mean they should mean Hamonic due to the significantly larger return, yes?

Hamonic is playing well...if the Flames had better performance from some of the forwards this season the team would have 5+ more wins and we would all be talking about our awesome team.

Not sure why we are talking about buying when we are going to be sellers this weekend.

What are the Flames exactly selling? A broken down Matt Stajan? An injured Versteeg?

We should be doing what the Rangers said they are doing. Get rid of old expiring contract players. Get younger and aqquire draft picks. Last thing this team should do is go for it. No chance we compete with Vegas, SJ or Anaheim. Even LA. No Pacific team will end up in a WC spot.

Players I would sell if the price is right.
Bennett
Brouwer
Stajan
Lazar
Any D man not named Hamilton
Actively shoot brodie/Stone/Hamonic for a scoring winger

Ferland, Brodie, Gillies.
Not gonna get squat for Brouwer because of contract unless Chicago wants to bring back a guy that won a cup with them.
Not going to get a Snickers for Stajan, his line is ending in 20 games.
Hamonic is staying.
Maybe bennett. But I would hate that.

I wouldn't trade Ferland or Gillies. Smith is old, and Rittich definitely isn't a starter. We severely lack scoring wingers so Ferland stays too.

We are young though.
I’m not in on selling but if we were then I think Frolik, Hamonic and Brodie would be the top candidates.
But we aren’t selling. Things are stills very tight in the west whether fans are in a good mood about it or not. Management isn’t gonna give up on this yet. The biggest thing is gonna be seeing what management does with the coaching staff this offseason. If they don’t turn this around right away then itll be pretty obvious I would think.

Whatever they do it should be with next year in mind. Absolutely no trading of picks. Personally I want to see Brodie moved for a young winger like Buchnevich or something like that. I’m not really interested in Hoffman anymore. It’s gotta be a guy who matches up with our core. If they could get a package of picks for Brodie similar to what they traded for Hamonic, I’d be fine with that as well, but I can’t see it happening. That would be selling and I can’t see the team admitting to that.

Bring in a guy who can score who has some term. No rentals at this point(should be obvious). Easier said than done, but hey. Deadline should be interesting.

Looks like the Grabner trade is close:
Pierre LeBrun @PierreVLeBrun
Action definitely picking up on Rangers' Grabner. Cheap cap hit. Teams coming harder at NYR today it seems...
