They have not cap space for him.

Too bad though, because that is one of the worst contracts in the league. Top 10 for sure.

Every goalie looks awful under Ottawa. I think he could still salvage his career.

Yeah don't think anyone picking him up but I see a trade possibility with half salary retained.

If you're edmonton, why not? You have a 40 year old, Koskinen and Skinner. Pretty big meh and for $3 million I think is doable. Maybe they will even take Koskinen back.

What on Earth could Edmonton offer Ottawa that would entice them to retain any salary? And remember, Ottawa are the definition of 'Cheap.'

The dude is on Waivers. Clearly League-wide demand for his services is rather low.

I don't get how Ottawa can be so cheap with their homegrown talent, but then dish out over 6 million on Matt Murray. What a bad signing.

Just another victim of under-performing on a big contract.

If his salary was half of what it is someone might take a flyer on him, but he is making #1 Goalie money while serving up nowhere near #1 Goalie performance.

So Ottawa would rather pay all the salary then some of the salary?

Why wouldn't Ottawa retain if anyone was willing to take him off their hands. As long at the retained is cheaper then the coming buyout they still make out ahead
