So are you going for a 7.1 setup?

I don't like the idea of speakers in walls (I think that's what you mean) as they do have limited room which really limits their size.

Personally, I'd do bookshelf speakers either on wall mounts or stands but room doesn't always allow for that and can see how they wouldn't be ideal in the room in your pic.

Certainly not an audiophile and the room set up probably won't allow for 7.1. i am leaning towards mounting on the wall, but would prefer lower profile set up. What are some good middle of the road brands?

Polk Audio are decent for the price, and often on sale.

Stereo speakers kinda work fine not embedded. Just get some stands?

Nice thing about stands / mounts is you can mess with their directionally / toe in and get good results

I think it is the center one that is going to be the issue in that scenario as I will need to mount it somehow.

Okay still trying to figure out a solution to my DIY project. Another question, I want to run a conduit from my TV to my media stand which will require drilling through 2x4 studs. The blue ENT (smurf) tube that I found is only 3/4" which is too small to fit an HDMI cable through. I was thinking I could use 1.5" white PVC as that should give me enough space and try to avoid any right angle turns. Any issues with this approach?

I used the white PVC to run a conduit from my projector to my receiver and stuff. It worked, though it was really hard to pull it. That's when I learned cable pulling lube is a thing.

I just bought a house with in ceiling speakers throughout. I have never had this before so I was wondering if anyone has this setup through their house in a multi zone setup that supports AirPlay.

I saw Sonos has a Port device, but at $800 zone that is obscene if I want 3 or more zones.

Do I need a Amp for each zone wired up? Is there a smaller and cheaper way to this than have 3 stacked amps?

Our house came with ceiling speakers in the basement and outdoor speakers all wired to the same Marantz receiver that has dual zone capabilities. There's 3 zone receivers as well, but they aren't cheap

Also one drawback I've found with ours is that the 2nd zone for outside only directly allows a Bluetooth input. If I want to Chromecast something outside I have to set the receiver to All Zone Stereo which merges both zones into one and then I cast to the main zone

Thinking of getting some new bookshelf speakers. I have some Polks (RTI A3) which are good, but thinking of getting some that will last me another 20 years, so willing to up the price a bit for some quality stereo listening!

What’s your budget? There are lots of great choices out there.

Under 1k. Was looking at the elac debut reference bookshelves. One thing about the polks is that they're bright. Wanting a change from that

Elac makes great speakers. I heard the B5s at the Audio Room and the 6.2s are even better.

These are supposed to be great. They're powered though so might not be what you're looking for.

I have some Focal 906s and they're fantastic but a little bright. They pair well with a subwoofer.

I use in in my bedroom and its a large room. Its great for casual use.

I have a 5.1 for my theater but I don’t think I need it. It was something I did long ago when I had no kids and thought I’d use it more.

I would order from Sonos and you get a trial period and if it sucks send it back.

I have an Arc with Play surrounds upstairs main floor and that I can say is a great home theater setup… to watch Captain Underpants FML

I have a beam with 2 ones as a surround and the sub and its embarrassing how much better it sounds then my old setup which was 4x more expensive and took up 4x more space.

I wanted an arc but it was OOS for so long I settled.

How do people put their soundbars up when they mount the tv on the wall. I finally got my mount up, now don't know what to do with my soundbars and cable box.

Amazon has little shelves that sit on top of the TV for the box. Can the soundbar attach to bottom of that mount? I just put my bedroom soundbar on the wall right below the TV.
