I remember you could still do that back in the 90's from Rogers Video or Blockbusters, along with renting video game consoles. Although my parents didn't buy me and my brother an SNES, they did rent it for us once in awhile. Still remember renting it from the Blockbusters in Beddington. My brother and I would play the crap out of that thing for the 2 days we had it.

I used to rent game consoles all the time, it was amazing. I used to rent the weird ones like Sega Saturn.

I was jealous of my neighbors who had Super Soaker 100's
My brother and I were stuck with the wimpy 50's.
It didn't actually take too long to figure out that the 50 was the better of the two - a more useable size and weight and the 100 had no advantage in distance, but that first time we went out for a water fight and I saw those other guys with those big blue guns I felt like I was doomed.

The 50s were the real killers. Armed with one, you were a Viet Cong guerrilla picking off Americans stumbling through the bush.

My friend's mom was an underwear model in the Sears catalogue one year. Wonder if you were 'familiar' with her. I'll give my friend your regards...never gets old bugging him about that.

As a kid, I seem to recall other kids used to brag about going to the Rainforest cafe.

Foraging for porn, haha classic.
Kids these days will never know the struggle. Teraflops of porn just a few clicks away.

90's Reebok Pumps shoes and new hockey equipment (always had second hand that barley fit) especially when the Easton Aluminum stick came out!

I had two friends that had almost the full collection of Transformers each. I'm talking old school OG Transformers. Megatron that turned into a Walther P38. Soundblaster and all the little cassette dudes. All the Dinobots and Destructicons that combined into Devastator... and on and on

For me I was jealous of my friends who got to be patrollers in Gr. 6. I had to walk my younger sister home so I was never allowed (years later she got to be one). Watching all the patrollers get on the bus to go to the annual patrol picnic at heritage park was crushing.
My parents were not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination. I grew up in Whitehorn during the late 80’s until 2001 when we moved to Panorama. I was blessed that my parents were always able to buy me things no matter how close they got to the financial edge. Iver the years I collected the red power wheels Jeep, a purple and black Brett Hull GT snow racer, all the ghostbusters toys and firehall (which I gave away for free), canyon of doom race car set, super soaker 50, SNES with only a handful of games, and was in soccer and swimming lessons.

There was a kid on our street who got the backpack one. There was a general rule that no hoses were allowed in water fights. The kid with the backpack dominated water fights as a result.
