From the Athletic this morning ...

Quote:
Of the teams I saw in the qualifying round, the Flames were the most talkative group by a decent margin. The chirps were constant. There was no clearance on the penalty kill, no hit, no blocked shot that went by without the bench exploding and yelling and carrying on. In terms of generating or mimicking that playoff intensity and energy as an isolated group in an empty arena, Calgary stands out to me as the club that has that phase of the game down pat off the hop.
That certainly speaks to the closeness of the group.

Time to book that "focus time" in my calendar so I can get "work done" in the afternoon.

Although to be fair, Andersson by himself probably chirps more than some teams.

Should be a really good series with lots of huge momentum swings.

I am hoping that the Calgary team ends up winning.

I watched the first 10 minutes or so of Game 1, only to see the Jets score. Watched the first half or so of Game 2, where the Flames went down 2 and looked lethargic. I missed the rest of the series.

I am missing this game. You are welcome.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

The Flames should have an advantage today, from the fact that they have already been playing 'playoff' hockey.

Also, the Stars are a very old team, especially their top 6. So it may take them a little longer to get up to speed.

So there is a big opportunity here, it is really important that they pounce on it and take advantage.

It's a Dallas home game

If you could just take the whole series off, that'd be great

Read that this morning as well and was glad you posted this. I am trying not to get too optimistic and read into this too deep but I really think the Flames could be on the cusp of a deep run.

1. Huge chip on their shoulder
2. Super tight group
3. Very recently they were an elite team in the league
4. They were rounding into form during the stretch drive
5. Follow up a disappointing year with a good year and the 4 month Covid break acted like an offseason
6. Talbot playing like he did in 2017
7. Potentially one of those iconic 3rd lines that vastly out perform their regular season performance

Since it's playoffs, this battle with the stars will be a series of wars on ice. But maybe there's a certain force afoot that will be with the Flames as they meet Dallas:

Spoiler!

Thus far this playoffs, every time I've felt nervous we've won. The one time I felt confident we lost. I feel nervous this morning. Visions of Bishop shutting the door, Seguin/Benn breaking out and putting up multipoint games, and Perry turning back the clock. I know this seems like a good matchup on paper, but so did COL.

Will be interesting to see the pace of this game. I thought the qualifier games had a pretty good tempo. However now that it's the real playoffs, I'm hoping it gets to be even better.

Rooting for my adopted team, but also not sad if you guys win. You deserve some playoff success so this series is a win for me either way!

Flames cancelled their 50/50 today.

I blame the Oiler Fans and their millions of gambling dollars..
