Electric Range vs Gas Range
Anyone willing to give feedback on what they prefer?
I have to decide in the next 10 days or so if I want to upgrade to have a gas range. The price variance for the rough-in, installation and appliance is $1100 for gas.
I've read stuff online with pros and cons to both but would love to hear CP peeps feedback on this if anyone has any.

Is an induction range a consideration?
I have only ever cooked with an electric, and so far is has always cooked whatever I put on it or in it, but that being said, I enjoy cooking on my gas bbq

Got a Wolf gas stove. Wouldn't buy again. Too difficult to clean and upkeep.
The Miele induction is amazing, easy to clean. Also, good pans on even a crappy electric stove make all the difference.

We installed six burner gas range 3 years ago and love it.
Cleaning it, however, is no fun.

Replaced 5 burner gas range with 5 burner induction. Cleaning it is awesome. I wipe down spills right when they happen, even while the elements are on, and spillovers don't burn onto the surface.

Have owned both. Gas, especially the one I have, is a pain to clean, but still worth it. Induction is the electric version of trying to convince itself it's as good as gas.

IMO, Gas is great for cooking, complete pain to clean. Induction is as good as gas for something like 90% of the cooking, breeze (in comparison) to clean.
I am guessing 9/10 people will be happy with induction. 1/10 gas > induction.

We just bought an induction and it is great. Much better temp control than a traditional electric, but not as quick as gas. But clean up is a breeze and that more than makes up for not having gas.

Well sticking my head in a electric range would probably not kill me at least right away but it'd burn like a bastard. Whereas putting my head in a gas range seems more traditional, so Gas.

If you have a wife, get a gas range. If you're going to have to clean it, consider an induction range.

We always wanted a gas range for the look and the speed of cooking/heating.
We bought a house with a new induction stove that boils a kettle of cold water in 3-4 minutes.
I'm not sure if there are other benefits to gas but you can't really beat that heating/cooking time of induction..

(Happily) Married, and yes the wife currently does 99% of the cooking which makes both of us happy.

Never had gas range.
Induction is fantastic.
Fast, precise and a dream to clean.
Can't speak to durability, as ours is only about 5 months old, but definitely recommend for above.

Oh, I have to second this.
They sell it as this awesome, 'professional' gas stove and what it really is is an unmitigated pain in the ass.

I've had gas for the last 17 years and was one of the few must-haves of my last house. Well that and a huge garage.

Do you cook?
If so, gas for sure and it's not even close.

Never owned a gas range, but every time I get the chance to use one I'm forever in envy of them. For less than $2000 it would be a no brainer for me.
