Rage against the Machine is rescheduled for June 23. My first thought was "good luck". That would be 2021 however! Hopefully still RTJ with them.

Face value floor tickets are on ticketmaster for the Rage concert if anyone is looking. Our group got some and put in for a refund for our original tickets.

Sweet. Still waiting for my original refund to process (it's been almost a month). But I got floor now. Awesome.

Stage One: When will live music return to Calgary venues? It's complicated

It’s now clear that no live music or comedy or trivia or any other performance is allowed until further notice.

It’s unfortunate, but the safety implication makes sense. Singing is projecting a lot of droplets, and people that have to shout over loud music into each others’ and servers’ faces don’t work either

Too bad you can’t draw some common sense lines, such as instrumental music with a volume / dB cap (not to mention, no comedy? I don’t get that. I mean, for open mic’s, fine, you may not want to share mic’s, but a feature act? Seems low enough risk to manage)

On the subject of dB, I don’t get why so many bars insist on such high volume, whether it be for the music they pipe out or live music. A very long time ago, I saw Yes play in a large stadium. Best sound at a stadium show I have ever heard. These are guys dealing with the high volume required to reach people, and a massive space, and the reverb challenge that comes with that volume and space. Too many bars, they can’t even manage acoustics in a reasonable sized space. The sound suffers and people have to shout at each other.

I would love for COVID to result in a reasonable dB cap, it may just help some sound guys, who appear to just get the job by technically knowing how to fumble around the board just enough to be dangerous

Since concerts are pretty rare these days and i stumbled across this on twitter...thought i would post a flashback,

Incredible line up...all in benefit of health care workers during a corona virus threat.

Man, I miss going to shows. I've been going down youtube rabbit holes lately, watching full concerts from various bands.

Also stumbled on a facebook page that posts old-school gig posters. This one takes me back:

One of my favorite shows ever...I worked it, but get to see a whole bunch of everybody's sets.
Then got to roll heavy beer Perlicks up the ramp into Commonwealth Stadium after...

Yep I was at that show - great gig
Ended with all the acts on stage performing the environmental single ‘land’ they had recorded the night or so earlier

Pretty sure I still have the cassette single of that song in a box somewhere. I remember being so blown away by Midnight Oil's set, I didn't think the Hip would be able to top it. I was wrong. They opened with Locked in the Trunk of a Car, and when the rest of the band came in on that big downbeat after the first verse, it was clear who the headliners were that night.
