Yikes. Why does he even bother to do that.

Boeser actually had his career best in 20-21 who would picked him to earn the big bucks?
The teams and agents thought that the career years were the minimum or maybe the norm, when in fact they really have a better chance of being actual career years.

It's a lot of things.
*Many teams tight to the cap.
*Expectation of an increasing cap with the TV deal.
*Players offering to do smaller AAV on short term deals with big qualifiers.
*One GM blinking (was it Tampa?) creating the push on the other teams.
*Flat cap making the big qualifier a bigger issue than it would have been.

Career years at 21?
End of the day this is a timing thing. Tkachuk signed that deal after scoring 34 goals and 77pts playing on the second line with Backlund and Frolik at 20/21 years old. He was definitely looking at a $9M+ deal if the Flames wanted to go 6-8 years. The Flames didn’t have that flexibility without moving some pieces off their team so once these bridge deals started to become the norm the player and team pivoted to that. Mister, Boeser and I believe Point all signed before Tkachuk did.
Think about it this way. If Dubois has the same season next year he just had this year I don’t know how you can justify qualifying him at 7.5M? In a 82 game season Dubois was on pace for 16 goals and 37pts this year. Tkachuk ended up pacing for 23 goals and 63pts.
I would be a lot more worried about how your Jets will handle that 7.5M QO over the Flames and their $9M QO for Tkachuk.

If there is any truth to this Tkachuk wanting out and wanting to go back to the States the fanbase that should be the most concerned is Ottawa. Cheap ass owner, weak ass fanbase, fairly garbage team with Brady currently being their best piece.
If Matthew is ducking to the States ASAP his brother is not far behind. At least Matthew got to play on competitive teams that made the playoffs in his elc.

Honestly, I think it would be interesting to Eichel to continue the McDavid competition story line, and what better place to do it in the league.
Totally a BS Rumor, but I could see some Egotistical appeal from Eichel comparing himself to the current top of the league player.

Maybe if Eichel could play an entire season without getting injured it would be a good story line.

Yeah, Eichel isn't putting up much of a fight since he has always been behind in scoring, and his team has even been consistently worse since being drafted. The 2nd point is a seriously embarrassing situation.

If you pronounce the T and the K, doesn’t that come out just as it’s commonly pronounced? Ka-chuck?
T doesn’t automatically add a “TA” sound to words…
“The”, is ‘thuh’ not ‘teehee’.

You know if you trade on that inside information you are guilty of violating securities laws.
