Wild wanted to upgrade our 4/5 dman and get some more veteran help. Gardiner checks t he boxes and has a reasonable contract for 2 years. I've got a buttload of 2nds next year so made sense to use one of those chips.
I do think Sturm will be an NHLer.

Hopefully Valimaki can overcome some of his recent injuries and end up being a top four or maybe even top pairing D for the Flames. Tkachuk is back to flying solo up front for the time being.

Biggest risk to CGY is Valamaki and his injuries...if he stays healthy this deal I think ends up better for the Flames. Interesting deal on both sides.

Totally agree that Valimaki is the wildcard. He is a player i really like, but he's missed 2 years of prime development time. As a Flames fan, i hope he comes back strong but there is risk there. From a sim perspective, hes still a full season away, at best, from being a rated player. I'm hoping that Strome can finally live up to his billing and grow in to a 65-70pts player and solid #2 center in that time frame. With Dach pushing in Chicago, he needs to either elevate his game or get passed on the depth chart.
could be an interesting trade to look back on.
