Listened to the Oilers radio broadcast just now on my way home. The play by play guy literally states how many minutes are left and then tries to estimate how many more shifts for McDavid that equals to. Talk about having no faith in the rest of your team.

He also threw to commercial by stating "its 2-1 Pittsburgh, who have 5 Cups. Sound familiar Edmonton?!"

Wow they are really pumping up the Oilers here... like we should be happy they're trying.

3-1 Pens with the empty netter, right after a shift where Crosby schooled Mcdavid and company in the Edmonton zone for what seemed like a full minute. Oilers lose again, lol.

Jesus is McDavid supposed to be a god or something that doesnt get tired? 24 mins tonight. Defends for a whole shift then is expected to get to the other side and create offence? What a sad team.

McDavid just looks deflated. I give it one year max before he requests a trade? There's absolutely nothing they can do to turn the Oilers into a winner overnight. I don't care if Yzerman, Holland, or prime Scotty Bowman comes to their aid they're not going to be a contender in a year.

That shift alone just shows who is the best player in the world and it's definitely not McDavid.

Honestly, how can he not be though?

I mean he is a tremendous hockey player, but what they have surrounded him with is absurd., but it is what it is and there is actually a way they could be semi-competitive. So they bring in the coach to implement that one way to play and have a chance, and the players around McDavid simply won't do it.

It's such a tire fire and there is very little light at the end of the tunnel because that tunnel is a loooooong one.

It's remarkable what has happened there.

He needs to go out there and do his thing without the over acting nonsense yea his team is crap but the exasperated act he pulls constantly doesn't help. Guy acts like he's owed a Cup just because.

The Ducks have 1-0 lead in the third period. The goalie for Anaheim is a rookie from the farm team. It is his first career start in the NHL. He did play in relief against the Flyers. He is going for the shutout, less than six minutes away.

Boyle has made 35 saves so far! Solid goaltending and seventy seconds away from the shutout.

The Ducks have a knack for doing this to the Canucks. Gibson shutout the Canucks in his first career start five years ago.

Do what thing? Play as an individual? Teams would stick 3 guys on him. Only Mr. Perfect can pass to himself.

I don’t think he is self entitled. He’s saddled with crap and he is sick of the lines that the organization and mainly the executive has fed him over the past weeks, months, and years that they are going to build something special around him. It’s what Pronger heard when he got there, and he asked for a trade at Christmas time. McDavid must be thinking along the same lines now...as those stories he was likely told to dismiss or was assured he could dismiss before re signing, but is realizing it is all true and now he’s under a microscope, and not advancing in development and he knows it.

Final scores and links

1at 3

Both NBCSN and SN can now stop drooling over this game, it's in the past now. Crosby won over McDavid again. Matt Murray was terrific in net making 35 saves. The Draisaitl goal was the only one that beat him early in the game. McDavid has a 8 game point streak happening. Rust's SHG and Blueger scored the tying and winning goals in the 2nd period. The Pens win puts them 3 points up on the 9th place Hurricanes.

Take a shower for whoever you wanted to see win this game. Silfverberg scored the only goal of the game at the 6:30 mark of the 1st period. The surprise rookie goalie of the Ducks was the show making 35 saves for the SHUTOUT. Bob Murray wins his first game behind the bench, his assistant coaches were responsible for the lines and changing them through out the game.
