The Dudes release Flames-themed version of "Saturday Night"
Calgarians already know all about the sweet sounds of local favorites The Dudes, but I just came across a new, updated version of their song "Saturday Night". The song was originally released in 2012 and was simply about hockey in general, but this new version is subtitled "My C Is Alright" and is specific to the Flames. Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere but I couldn't find it, and thought you all would enjoy! Here's the song and the lyrics:
When Ed started wailin' and the kids started scaling up the stands,
I'll be at 555 Saddledome Rise, and it's Hello Hockey Fans!
We got fired up in the first, hot as Benzing Furs
When the boys hit the ice
It will be weeknight, every night, any night is Saturday Night
It's Saturday, Saturday, Saturday, Saturday night
My dreams are all red and my team is all red and my C is alright
When April's here we're gonna grow our beards and the neighbors won't like, it's weeknight every night, any night is Saturday night.
When Theo went 5, man, he slid near 200 feet across the ice
Jarome came to play, dropped the gloves with Lecavalier on a Saturday night
I got my first kiss, right on my girl's lips, I knew it was right
Behind Centennial Arenas on a cold dark Saturday night
It's Saturday, Saturday, Saturday, Saturday night
My dreams are all red and my team is all red and my C is alright
When April's here we're gonna grow our beards and the neighbors won't like, it's weeknight every night, any night is Saturday night.
Oh girl, we had fun, the Joe's both scored 51 in 1989
Remember Lanny's last goal the night he brought the cup home, girl, you were looking real fine
He got 500 goals, how about assists? 506! Baby we fell in love with our lives.
It was weeknight, every night, any night was Saturday night
My dreams are all red and my team is all red and my C is alright
Weeknight, every night, any night is Saturday night

That's way better then the oiler goal dance. Love the dudes. I've got a video of that guy shot gunning a beer somewhere. Everyone else anywhere ever is playing for second place.
They show that video as part of the opening on Saturday games at least. Pretty awesome IMO.
I wish I had seen this earlier. As I watched the video, thinking how cool the old video is...an short clip flashes up on the screen and I had to do a double take. There it was... captured in old footage of me and my brother-in-law from 1987 at our first NHL and Flames game we went to. Flames won the game in Edmonton, tickets were $38 for right behind the Flames bench.
