"The Calgary Stampeders have signed international quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell to a four-year contract that will keep him with the Red and White through the 2022 season"
“It’s great to have Bo back for four more years,” said Stampeders president and general manager John Hufnagel. “He had lots of options out there and I’m pleased he’s made this commitment to the Stampeders and that he’s chosen to continue building on his already-impressive legacy in Calgary.”
The deal makes Mitchell the second highest paid player in the CFL after to Mike Reilly who signed a four-year pact with the B.C. Lions worth $2.9 million. For Mitchell, each season steps up the compensation: $675,000, $695,000, $705,000 and $725,000 over the term of the contract. That’s a significant raise from the $475,000 Mitchell collected in 2018.

Congrats to Bo and the Stampeders on the happy ending to this. I'm surprised he didn't at least give it one year in the NFL - but it seems the market for CFL QBs and selected other star players was a real free agency - big money scenario in 2019 which obviously made a difference for him in coming to a decision.
The real winner in all this is the CFL which showed its strength today as an institution - thanks in large part again to TSN for its money and coverage.

The rider fan base is so arrogant, must have been a healthy dose of reality that you couldnt bring in a top QB when there were several available. Collaros is a good fit there.
My trainer has a lot of ins into the CFL football world, and he says players want to play in Calgary because of Huff, the winning atmosphere and the quality of the club / organization. He said the only thing holding all players back from signing here is the crappy stadium, which is the worst in the league by far.

Yeah. Pure speculation, but I think if he could've secured a primary back-up position on an NFL roster he probably would've left for a year. I'm getting the sense outside of a tryout offer, there wasn't much of a market down south for him.
I recall LaCanfora on a 960 hit back during Bo's tryouts got asked about what he heard NFL teams had thought of Bo. He said something to the effect of it sounded like he did decent in his workout, but some felt he may be a little small, with his somewhat slight frame..he was probably looking at 3rd string or practice roster fodder. That compared to $750K/year and the security of that over 4 years as a franchise player for a young father made it not worth the risk.

This times a million. Don't even get me started on a non-retractable dome for a sport (mostly) played during the summer months. That's one of the great perks of going to a game! Especially since the Cannons left.
