Did you already get your Versteeg jersey? (Honest question since if this is a year ending injury, he might be finished in a flames uniform)

I've had a Versteeg jersey for over a year now. This could possibly explain his off play this year if this is sorta a recurring thing.
Yikes yikes yikes. Hope we see Mangiapane soon

Taking a while to get to 5000

Yep this sucks. No matter your opinion of him its a loss for the Flames.
Very interested in seeing if someone else comes up or what moves are made.
Even though he was a RH shot he played mainly on the LW and the Flames will want a LH shot to replace him I'd think.

I think Versteeg is still a cool jersey to have, even if he never plays for the Flames again. He'll forever be part of the E=NG mythos by spurning the Oilers for the Flames.

Especially two slow players over the age of 40. The chances of signing Iggy ended when we signed Jagr.

Sucks for Versteeg. Sucks even more if he had a multi year offer on the table from another team and chose a 1 year deal with the Flames to be close to home.

Tough for versteeg.
To answer the thread disrail earlier... putting any player with Backlund and Frolik will allow that player to find their game. Those two can cover any mistakes and teach at the same time. The emergence of Tkachuk can throw some credit their way.
All rookie wingers should play half a year on the Backlund line. Just rotate them in.

Any chance this opens an opportunity for Benny on the pp? Seems to me we might as well give it a shot and see if it’ll kickstart him.

Seems like Gulutzan has instead decided to go back to a traditional 3F-2D alignment.

Injuries was always a concern with Versteeg, so not too surprising to hear the news. He wasn't playing very well so not a big loss for the team. I doubt he's back next season.

I'll wait for a definitive diagnosis but unfortunate in any event. If he doesn't need surgery is there a possibility he could be back in time for playoffs?

This is the same issue that brought him back to the nhl, inability to get insurance in europe on that knee because of the susceptibility of re-injury.

Tough news for Versteeg, he has been a reliable two way player, plays an honest brand of hockey.
Hathaway is a good call up, hopefully he sticks around I like the way he plays the game. I would take him over Brouwer or Stajan as a regular.

It isn't for sure that he's out for the whole year, right? Maybe he could be back for the playoffs?

If it's as bad as Roger is making it sound like. I'd have to imagine it'll have to be a deep playoff run to see Steeger back in the lineup.

This is one part of his game I admired. He's not a big guy yet he appears to lip off everyone with the hopes of getting them off their game.

Unfortunate for him but not unfortunate for the team, he's been brutal this season.

It might not have been his best season but the Flames are losing a skilled player.
