It's time. He's barely played all year and hasn't had any impact when in the lineup. Little has changed since he was on waivers earlier.
I just hope there's no downturn in Dougie's play as a result. There shouldn't be obviously, but people are human and these things can affect mood and motivation.

He last cleared waivers on November 2. A player must clear every 30 days or 10 games before they can be assigned.

Lack out - giving Rittich some assurance
Prout in - adding urgency to Stone's game (no one cares about bart)
Mangiapane up - rewarding good AHL play, possibly showcasing him
Hamilton down - opening up a roster spot
They'll have 13 forwards after Hamilton clears. Slowly but surely failed experiments are being removed (Lack / Glass / Hamilton), Bartkowski, Lazar and Stajan aren't that far behind.
I think a top 6 player trade is around the corner as well.

It's a requirement before a player can be sent down. Another team could conceivably claim him before he's assigned.
