Excellent. Fourth line needs a boost in the worst way.

His addition doesn't hurt but he's not the answer to the team's issues as after all he has scored one goal in 41 career NHL games.

I would have loved to see Mangiapane - especially if Jagr is out next game still too.

If it is going to be Hathaway though I would love to see this lineup for a game.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Bennett - Backlund - Frolik
Tkachuk - Jankowski - Jagr
Hathaway - Lazar - Brouwer

I think we need him on the 4th line. You can probably count the times, during the entire season, on one hand where the 4th line created some energy and didn't lose any momentum. At this level it needs to be done a few time a game. Need some speed and grit back there so we can at the very least have a forecheck and hit a body or two.

Is there someone else you would have liked to see recalled?

This is good stuff. I hope Hathaway makes Treliving's life difficult in a bid to stay up.

I don't think the teams issues will be solved by AHL recalls (outside of the backup goaltender situation) as the team's issues are not on individual players but the way the team plays as a whole. The commitment to defense needs to be much better as does the passing as the amount of turnovers on a nightly basis is unacceptable.

I disagree, its not his goal-scoring that we need, this team needs someone to grab it by the nose and wake them the the hell up and Hathaway is the answer to that issue.

Hathaway is up? Good news Flames. Bad news for everyone else.

Hope he dresses on Thursday. It would be refreshing to see -- in just one game -- the impact that a 4th line energy guy like Hathaway can bring.

Hathaway is up? Good news Flames. Bad news for everyone else.
If it was only that easy every team would call up a hard nosed grinder when they ran into scoring issues. Like I said he doesn't hurt but he's not the solution to the team's woes.

Hopefully he stays with the team. This guy is a real special. Whats the flames record when he's in the line up? Isn't is something like 50-3?

This team desperately needs the injection of "truculence" and I wish a few guys other than Hathaway made it up.
How about Lomberg, Eat bread, and Wotherspoon.

We've created good competition....let's use it to some use then if we can.
Certain players just aren't getting it done or are their worst enemies right now so let's juggle the lineup a little.

He shouldn't be looked at as solution to depth scoring, but to provide an energy player to what should be an energy line.

All they should hope to accomplish is to get the puck deep, bash some bodies, be hard on the forecheck and try to win their shift by spending time outside their own zone doing these things.

The 4th as it is now plays the game the same way as the other lines and look terrible doing it.

Hathaway - Lazar - Brouwer/Hamilton depending on jagrs status.

Glad to see the flames not putting their head in the sand due to the winning record. The team has played little solid/good hockey so far, it is important to try to rectify things rather than ignoring it due to the results.

Good on them.

Scoring woes are not the bane of this team however. They score enough more often than not, but sure some more would be preferable.

The team defensive play though? Brutal. They give up way to many high quality scoring chances, and Im not sure that a Hathaway will help a whole lot in that area.

No question the 4th line needs to be better all over the ice, as does that 3rd line at times. But even if they aren't scoring they could be so much better by not giving up a goal every game and hurting the club instead of staying even.

In my mind, he is the pretty much the same player as Hamilton and Lazar
