5 Things - Flames vs. Canadiens

2. Know Your Enemy

Tonight’s game marks the start of a five-game, 11-day road trip for Montreal, who arrive in Calgary having dropped nine of their last 12 games including a 2-1 overtime setback at home Thursday night against Boston.

Predicting Oliver Kylington’s next contract

The challenge with Kylington’s next contract is around comparables. There aren’t very many players who can play hockey at a high level, take a year and change away from the game, and come back and still be able to play top-four minutes.

What do the Calgary Flames have in their under-25 prospect pipeline?

The Calgary Flames have entered a period of fundamental realignment. Whether you want to call it a retool, a reconfiguration or whatever else, the simple fact is they’re aiming to get younger and, after that, better. As they embark upon this period of change, it’s worth taking a look at the prospect cupboard.

Playoff outsiders Flames, Canadiens striving to improve chances

The Calgary Flames and Montreal Canadiens are longshot squads to make the Stanley Cup playoffs, but both head into Saturday's meeting in Calgary with a small bit of hope.

Wonder which Flames we will see? The solid group from the vegas game or the tire fire from the previous three.

Really hope that they give Wolf a ton of games down the stretch. Vladar as well to help decide the goalie strategy for next season.

I think they'll hang well with bottom third teams, get worked against top teams that show up and surprise some top teams that don't (Tampa / Vegas)

Positive number: PK is 83.8% good for 4th in the league

Negative number:Power Play is 14.1% which is 31st in the league

Unbelievable that Savard is still employed as a PP coach and specialist or is it a lack of talent and creativity with our 2 PP units?

Either way, the PP is a glaring weakness and that stat is tough to overlook.

I would argue that a minor change would help: Anderson should not be on either PP unit, because he is grossly ineffective.

If I’m Huska, I would be experimenting with the PP down the stretch looking for what can improve this team’s “man advantage”.

At 14%, you could say it’s a disadvantage for the Flames to get a power play.

A special shout out to Cheese for all your work on the game day threads!

I can’t thank you enough for assembling all this incredible content in one place and doing it 82 times a season!?!

You are amazing and your work is awesome !

I caught myself as a die hard Flames fan, taking your outstanding work for granted, but you deserve a lot more recognition and appreciation than just a thanks!

Hopefully Wolf gets the start. Flames are out of the playoff hunt so don't see why they'd wanna rush Markstrom. Take your time.

Would love to see Wolf get the start again give him some Sat night HNIC action
He deserves it based on last game’s performance. Let’s ride him a little and see what we got - how else do you truly evaluate him?

Gotta give PP1 to guys who have skin in being long term Flames.

Been busy lately on game nights, so haven't had time to watch, but I think that Huberdeau has played with Kadri for at least a couple of games now, right? How have they looked together? From reading the PGT from last game, it sounded like the team had a good game and I remember reading that Huberdeau had a number of beauty passes. Huberdeau with Kadri was terrible last season, so it would be good to know that they're finally able to play with each other.

We've gotta get this powerplay out of the basement.

I DGAF if you have to strap skates onto Marc Savard, the second-worst PP in the League just isnt going to cut it.

Would love to see Wolf start, wouldn't be upset if he is good to go to see Marky start, but it is Huska so I expect Vladar to start.

How crazy would it be if the team rode Wolf to a surprise playoff push?

Very. I can't see it with the amount of games left combined with the teams in or close to the Wildcard
