The broadcast didn’t do it justice how crazy the crowd went when Vettel took pole. You can sort of hear it in the background but it was quite jubilant.

It certainly seemed like people were happy with that qualifying!! Just nice to see Hamilton be human and miss the hairpin...otherwise pole was his.
How about Ricciardo and Renault!! P4 and P7. Just a great result for them. Yes, Bottas made a mess of Q3 and Verstappen got really unlucky with KMag cracking at Wall of Champions, but that's a very solid run for them.
I'm actually really looking forward to the race tomorrow. Hope that we get lots of tire degradation and that Vettel leads after turn 1. Max will be cracking thru the midfield and it'll be exciting.

50C track temperature would make me happy.

Video from FP3 from my seats. Not everyone was on a hot lap. But gives you a general idea of what it looks like. This is grandstand 11 sec 5 row p. Start finish in the distance, pit exit and turns 1/2. These will be my seats again tomorrow.
Once again apologies for my shaky camera work. Not my forte.
Here’s one more from the back straight DRS zone. Not sure if this is FP1 or 2. I think 1. This is right before the braking zone into the final chicane/wall of champions. So it should be the fastest part of the track.
Ok, last one. Main straight from FP2.
Id love to have some of cars going into a chicane from track level to get a better sense of the insane speed thru turns 6/7 or 8/9 but there aren’t a ton of GA spots at either turn and when I was there I didn’t take video.

Very unfortunate whether it was the right call or not. You're trying desperately to attract new fans and not lose old ones due to constant parade races and Mercedes domination, then you finally get one shaping up to be within a second finish, possible first wheel to wheel in years and then...….that.
You could hear the deflation in the announcers and the crowd. The announcers especially (who live to call those close races) sounded like their dog died. Again, I won't comment on the penalty as I don't have the knowledge to offer an opinion, but just as a new fan all I can say is what a shame.
I actually kind of agree with a penalty, but think the penalty was more of a "leaving the track and gaining an advantage" which often comes with a "give the position back" penalty. Had they done that, Vettel would have had a chance to come back. They used to give this penalty much more often than I've seen it in the past 3 years. I think that would have been more appropriate.
The fact is, Vettel screwed up, and Hamilton had to take avoiding action costing him the place to Vettel.

cars in parc ferme after the race. What’s interesting here, other than seeing the cars so close, is the team employees in the background with the laptops downloading telemetry from the cars. Thought that was neat.
Lewis getting booed (I was not booing at this point)
Last but not least a quick video of the race start.

I’ll be honest, I’m a little surprised how pretty much everyone thought it was an awful penalty. I saw a tweet from Mario Andretti saying it was terrible.
Do they still have 3 second time penalties? That would have seemed appropriate and would’ve kept it close. I know the penalty should match the incident and not be for the sake of entertainment but come on, what happened to letting them race?
