Default No Veterans on Normandy Beaches for D-Day this year

https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...ents-cancelled

Still lets take time to remember this important day. These heroic young men, those that are still with us, and now all in their mid 90s or older

Juno was one of the least opposed beaches of 5 invasion points, but was still extremely well defended. Even with the issues of poor air support and logistics snarls its amazing the amount of determination shown not only by Canadian but all allied soldiers on that day to do an opposed beach landing, something that wouldn't really be done again until the Korean War.

What made this amazing was that the D-Day rehearsal was a disaster, and Dieppe was a disaster. There was no guarantee that this would work, and it might not of if Hitler had normal sleeping habits and his general staff wasn't terrified of him

We will hopefully and happily never see a military action like this with single day casualties like this again.

This was realistically the first step in the West to ending a vile regime lead by monsters.

I think as the Veterans fade out and die that this is an important piece of history to teach our kids, even if schools aren't going in depth anymore.
