Debrusk is a decent second line winger, but those types of players are so easy to find and acquire.
You could easily sign similar (albeit older) players on the market right now for pennies on the dollar.
For that reason, I don't think trading for him makes much sense.
Like Brouwer, James Neal etc?

Would anyone be opposed to trading Hanifin to Boston (w/o receiving cap space) and then putting an offer sheet on Sergachev with the cap space acquired? Boston could offer a first and DeBrusk, and then we could flip DeBrusk for a pick or another prospect. That, or give the Lightning DeBrusk and a 2nd. And if they decline, then we proceed with an offer sheet.
A one year offer sheet within the 2nd round pick range would make sense and then signing Sergachev to a long term deal later on.
Probably a lateral move, but I could see Sergachev and Tanev being a good duo.

No. Offer sheets rarely work and you're giving up an equal player on a good contract just to roll the dice on an offer sheet that is likely to get matched.

Matching with what money? The Lightning are effed right now.
Better overall hockey player. Conroy was a 50+ point center who was better defensively than Backlund or at least just as good. His career high was 75 points I think or around there. Monahan is a 60+ point center who is clueless defensively and has an 82 point career season. Monahan is also not as good of a playmaker as Conroy but maybe we would see that side of Monahan's game more if he was forced into a playmaking role if Gaudreau was removed. Im not sure who he would set up exactly but we would see.
I think that if a player is going to ignore 50% of the ice, he better be 50% more productive to compensate. All I'm seeing with Monahan is a guy floating around, sponging up most of his points thanks to Gaudreau and he honestly doesn't do much else. The fact that he doesn't play to his size doesn't help either. Langkow did way more with his 5'11" frame than Monahan does with his 6'3". Conroy wasn't a physical beast by any stretch but he wasn't invisible like Monahan either, playing like he's scared half the time
Make Lindholm Gaudreau's center and move Tkachuk to RW and you probably have a top 5-10 line in hockey. Unfortunately we only have 2 complete hockey players in our top 6 so Ward does what he can with what he has. Pretty much forced into playing Monahan with Gaudreau because he would probably be a 45 point no defense center without him and that is... basically useless.
Bonus points to Langkow for loving hockey so much that he insisted on finding an outdoor rink at 1am after a night of getting ****faced at Cowboys after a Flames game. One of my favourite players ever.
I suspect Kovalchuk wants both a raise and to sign with a contending team. The problem is that contending teams tend to not have a lot of cap space.
I could totally see him waiting until the signing deadline to sign with a team or pulling a Taylor Hall and signing with a non-contending team where he can later be traded at the trade deadline to a contender.

I'd love for the Flames to sign Mikael Granlund to a bargain deal if possible. He's both a C/RW so he can play the Lindholm role on the RW with Lindholm shifting to center to create a well-balanced top 9 with solid depth down the middle. We'd have to make some moves to free up some more cap space but I think he'd be worth it. He's so incredibly skilled but has never fully put it all together. I think he'd flourish playing in our top 6 with other skilled forwards.

Only 3 seasons ago, he was a player who flirted with 70pts two years in a row. His offensive output has really decreased with the Preds, but the same can be said for all of their forwards.I think he needs a change, but there's a really good player there.

I've been on the Granlund train for a while. I think if the Flames can find a way to add him, he's the perfect fit for this team. At the risk of being a bit too optimistic I think he's got the skill to make this team a legit contender. I could see him being a good fit on any of the top three lines and giving us more pieces capable of moving up and down when line shuffling is needed.
However Ryan would have to go for it to work imo which leaves the fourth line a little bit weak with Lucic - Nordstrom - Leivo. But it might leave an opening for Gawdin which could be a good thing too.
