Some horrible journalism here primarily based on the last take:

Honestly... I'd keep a close eye on the Blue Jackets. It's clear that their team has prioritized defence first and a blue line featuring Seth Jones, Zach Werenski, Noah Hanifin, David Savard and Vlad Gavrikov sounds mighty, mighty impressive. Could the Flames be persuaded with one of CBJ's young netminders? How does a 26 year old Elvis Merzlikins or Joonas Korpisalo sound to you, Flames fans?

Ya we just paid a goalie 6x6 10000% confident there is no interest there

Did that guy repurpose the Family Guy manatees for hockey trade rumors?

Let's see what they choose.....
CGY
CLB
Hanifin
Goalie

A perfect trade rumor! Print it!

Along with signing Duclair to a 1-year cheap deal.
If one of those players is traded my money is on Monahan.
With all the talk of playing Lindholm and Bennett at C coming out of the Flames organization combined with how half hearted he looked in the playoffs I think if the Flames make a big core move he is the guy.

I agree-I've been saying that it seems like we're being buttered up for that to happen.

Trading Monahan would be a huge mistake. He's the best center we've had in 30 years and no one has actually proven they could reasonably replace his production in that role.

The Flames tend to disappoint when their defense is great on paper.
They tend to overperform when they are younger.
Wouldn't want to trade Monahan for defense, especially with an expansion draft coming.

But I don't think Monahan is the best center in the past 30 years. Gilmore and Nieuwendyk were still on the team in the early 1990s.

Gilmore was a great fighter with a helluva slap shot, but he couldn’t skate for ####

Flames core won't be shaken up until the trade deadline (out of playoffs) or more likely the expansion draft. Now who has too many top 6 forwards to protect?

Fighter? Slap shot?

Gilmour was a two way center that played with an edge. Saw the ice well, which made him elite offensively, got under people's skin and could shut down the opposition. Complete player. Not very big, but I don't think his skating was every a problem.

Ahh...you're talking about the guy who diddled an under-ager. I'm referring to the one who took off his skate and tried to stab somebody.

I know you dislike Monahan Love but come on now let’s not be crazy. Langkow and Jokinen don’t hold a candle to Monahan and it’s not even close; especially when you just consider time with the Flames. Jokinen is by far one of the greatest disappointments I can remember.

I choose to only remember Jokinens first game against Philly that was a pay per view.

He's probably not wrong about healthy Langkow, but yeah Jokinen was horrid.

I don't know if you're helping your cause with this. If you didn't lay it on so thick like in this ridiculous post, people might wonder:" hmm, maybe Monahan isn't that good," instead of: "hmm, maybe Mona... oh... it's Love."

Now that's just absurd!

Next you'll be saying Jeff Shantz was better.

I’d still argue that a healthy Monahan Edges out a healthy Langkow and I really dug what Daymond brought the 5 seasons he was here and will always remember that 30+ goal 70+ point season where he was dominant.
