While that is true, Pronman also did rate the Oilers at 24 in the same list and he seems to see that the Oilers are no good.

IIRC Pronman has been high on Zary since he began writing about the 2020 draft class last year. In fact I remember the article because I thought the kid had a weird name but it would be cool to have a Z jersey.
here's one from January that has him in the top 10 of draft prospects available: https://www.hoc-key-talk.com/home/pr...s-at-midseason
Here's another one from June where Pronman has him at 10: https://theathletic.com/1769140/2020...122-prospects/
Anyways, I do think that Pronman does sometimes fall prey to shiny new toy syndrome (likely as he has with Poirier on this list, but he was also never high on Pelletier, even when pelletier was super hot at beginning of last season.) But in the case of Zary I think Pronman is just being consistent. He really likes this player.

Surprised Pronman has Pettersen so high. I’m likely biased as I rarely see prospects play in person but I’ve seen Pettersen live a couple of times and didn’t think I was looking at a guy who could handle the NHL. I sure hope the guy will be playing hockey this year. Left DU early and now the AHL season is in question.

Am I crazy for being slightly interested in Kovalchuk at a league minimum type of offer?

Vatanen and Granlund are still on my wishlist.
A sneaky buy would be Freddy Gauthier.

I was thinking the same thing. Although he probably wants a better contract.
With the cap crunch nobody is going to give him anything substantial, if he still wants to compete and play in NHL, he might have to sign for league min.

Though, it does kinda make sense, since they have made moves to bolster their wings (Anderson, Toffoli)

The problem with Kovalchuk or Chara is that he may go for a low salary deal but will want performance bonuses included in the deal. Those performance bonuses will roll over against next season's salary cap if the team doesn't have the cap space for them this season.

Are bonuses optional roll over, or if the team has room for partial or full bonuses, they can be included the year they are actually earned?

Why? Seems like he's a way worse version of Jankowski.

Basically it works like this. You take all the performance bonuses earned by players at the end of the season then subtract the club's remaining cap space at the end of the season. Whatever is left over is rolled over to next season as dead cap space.

Tell him we'll give him 10 million if he scores the Cup winning goal for us.

Why does Pronman say "very high on...".
Is this a Gen Z marijuana thing?

The phrase "high on" meaning excited/enthusiastic about has been around for like 80 years...

From what I understand Kahun has really good fancy stats. Fancy stats are great to have in the bottom 6. I'd be looking at him for sure

Well if you read HF he apparently followed the Oilers on IG so they are signing him.

Looks like it's back, or this tweet was just a prank. I'm sure an Oiler fan or 2 crapped their pants.
