I *may* have tracked down a 5900X.

The Lian Li O11D Mini case the only downside is it needs an SFX power supply. There's a 650W Seasonic and a 750W Corsair that are both SFX-L, I like Seasonic more but not sure if 650W is enough. I mean it should be, people are always overestimating how much power is needed. I'm not going to be extreme overclocking, and only have a 2080 for now.

the corsair is a better PSU now that they fixed the issues they had earlier in the year. Even with those ones they replaced every single one for free.

Even worse is the mark up for some of the cards. Asus is selling a AIO 6800xt for 1100$ US. only the AMD reference cards are selling for MSRP, and all of the AIB vendors are charging more than what they are charging for Nvidia equivalent cards.

1100$ ask for a card that's supposed to go up against a "699$" US card.

All of the lesser light youtubers have been talking about supply chain and how pretty much all of the chip wafers that AMD has purchased so far is mainly for PS5, Xbox, then their Ryzen 3 processors and RDNA2.

https://www.hardwaretimes.com/in-q4-amd-supplied-a-total-of-120k-ps5-and-xsx-processors-limiting-zen-3-and-big-navi-production/

Revisit sales in 90 days, and see what the supply is like in February, maybe arounds Valentines Day, as historically February is one of the worse times for hardware sales. although during pascal hoped for price breaks were a mirage due to the whole bitcoin bubble.

Christmas rush is also here, so new video cards will be scalped. It'll be interesting to see if the wider rollout of 3060ti will also be scooped or if there will still be supply chain issues into march. (slightly better than 2080 super performance for 2080 super prices! /sarcasm )

One other note buried in day one reviews is that 6800/6800xt have a power spike draw during high FPS games/Furmark burn in. Note the power draw chart at around 25:30 https://youtu.be/NbYCF_h2aVM?t=1530 If the computer's PSU is already running at limit, then this could be one of the situations where starting up a program will cause a crash to psu reset.

It'll also be interesting at the end of next year when chiplet design graphics cards are also supposed to drop.

You mean to buy? Actually good point I hadn't got that far. It does look like it's a little harder to get.

Quite impossible unless you're willing to spend more than $200
There's a good spreadsheet on this link if you wanna compare PSUs

Thanks for that will take a look. Quiet is usually most important to me.

Getting from the US is also do-able with stuff like DKY Post.

More vaporware

I'm sharing Hardware Unboxed as they slammed Nvidia before and recommended 5700xt at this price point previously.

TLDW: If one can find a 3060ti at MSRP they have found a special card, as with some overclocking base 3070 performance is achievable. More likely the average price of a 3060ti will match that of a msrp of a 3070. Unlikely to find at 525$ CDN more likely 700$, and scalpers will probably ask 1k$

Otherwise its more money that will stretch those scalper funds, and will also not drop in price as it's a very good ethereum mining card. Nvidia may deem it better profit to just supply the virtual currency miners first, and judging from 1060/1070 pricing from 2015/16 we were well into Turing before pricing dropped.

Not a worthwhile upgrade on 2070 or faster cards

Nvidia announcement video, read the comments for salt https://youtu.be/XgxlprDlZ_E

The other big caveat is the Radeon 6700 in january??? with 12gb of ram as well as the even more nerfed ga106 3060 cards.

I don't have room on my desk for something that big. I have a C9 OLED in my living room and I'll definitely be hooking my PC up to that!

Would this be enough cpu to do a world of warcraft build around? My 920 i7 isn't able to run shadow lands. I got 10 years out of it, time to upgrade.

I was annoyed by the LTT video yesterday where Linus built a new 3080/5800x system for a girl who'll be using it for Angry Birds & Among Us.

Asus TUF, the cheaper one not the OC so it's probably the one that was ordered the most.

64 days and counting!
