Well done! The dinner is indeed awesome. I've been once when my playing partner got one on 11. He was in his 60s and it was his first one. I have never gotten one myself.

Anyone played Kapalua or others in that area?

The Kap courses seem crazy expensive but should get some discount as we're staying at one of the hotels there.
I played the Plantation Course at Kapalua several years ago when I stayed at the Ritz Carlton. It's my favourite course I've ever played and my ball mark I use is from there. I birdied the 12th hole. A trip prior to that one I played five rounds at Royal Kaanapali. I thoroughly enjoyed those rounds, but WestJet broke my driver on the flight out. They didn't have a demo or loaner I could use, so I just used my three wood.

Side note: dion's photos are ridiculously huge and make it tough to reply when it stretches the page.

I love Kapalua. Was just in Maui and unfortunately did not get to play there but had a nice dinner at Tavinder at the Bay course clubhouse.

I played Royal Kaanapali. Unfortunately was a very windy day. The course is in great shape except for one par 3 on the back had temporary tees. The signature holes are near the beach by the Sheraton and adjacent to the El Dorado condos.

We teed off at 1pm so the fees were very reasonable. I rented Calloways for $40. The guy was great and loaned me a stiff shaft driver as well.

I played Wailea Emerald a few years ago and really liked it as well.

You ca try Kaanapali which is just down the road. A lot more affordable. Same with The Dunes. You can go way south and do Wailea, but it gets really expensive as well. If you can work it, Makena is a treat. It used to be 36 holes public, but I think it’s now 18 private. It liked them as the the second best golf courses after Kapalua Plantation. Good luck on tee times. Always fun to play in Hawaii.
Agree with Makena if you can make it work. Also, when I went (years ago) took the ferry over to Lanai to play Manele and Koele and that was an amazing day of golf. I don't think Koele exists anymore, but I'd still go to Manele if I was there.

Royal Kaanapali is very nice as far as the course (especially views) are concerned, but the on course and clubhouse service is wanting. I played both 18s.

we are looking at going to Victoria for 5 days in April. What courses would you recommend to play? I don't think Priddis has any reciprocals there so I'm open to where ever is decent.

Bear Mountain, Olympic View and Cordova Bay are my go to's.
Cordova is probably my favourite public course between Vancouver & Victoria; so well kept and great value.
Highlands is a favourite amongst my friends too but haven't played there personally.

We play Gorge Vale too, but I think it's fully private. Uplands and Vic Golf Club are also two privates that are supposed to be great.

I agree with Cordova Bay and Bear Mountain but would put Highland Pacific before Olympic View. HP is a great track. I found OV to be too much “target” golf. Enjoy your trip, Vancouver Island is a special place.

Reciprocal or not, might still be worth having your Pro make a phone call. I've played VGC a bunch of times and we don't have a reciprocal there either.

Highland Pacific and Gorge Vale were also fun times.

Knowing the pros at Priddis (we should play sometime, and should play a CP foursome!), they will definitely call for you. They can sometimes get you onto courses that you otherwise can’t or things like that and a lot of the pros know each other to varying degrees.

Anyone have Scotland golf experience?

Looking for a course to play on the day we drive from St Andrews to the Inverness area. I was looking at Boat of Garten to mix it up a bit but I am seeing mixed reviews.

Pitlochry appears to be on the way. Played there about 25 years ago and it was fun. Different than the typical scottish links but it was an enjoyable day

Used to be 50% off and free install.

Now it's 40% and $3 a grip.

Sirocco does theirs for 30% off and free install.

Fair enough. For me 40% is still okay as I Install my own grips in my garage.
