Good for him. New opportunity for him, but it’s gonna be hard to crack the Jets lineup.

If it's an AHL only deal he won't be eligible to play in the NHL.

Best of luck Emile. Just stay off the sauce, kid. Living in Winnipeg in winter will put you to the ultimate test.

sounds like he might not even have a firm AHL offer. this tweet makes it sound like he is trying out for the Moose

Hopefully he can get a deal and maybe get his career back on track even if it's as a career AHLer.

Wait we lost a 2013 1st rounder? Anyway I was always hoping he could find a way. Hopefully he can there.

So we drafted 3 times in the first round in that draft and we've kept Monahan and Klimchuk, but we lose Poirier. On the other hand, we've acquired Lazar, Rychel and Lindholm, so...yay, we win?

Big Ern is his sponsor so if he slips up he'll get put back on track ASAP.

Thank God for Brian.

That's what a really fear at this time in his life. The Flames treated him very well and gave him every opportunity, and of course owed him nothing more than a shot at coming back.

But this will of course be a MAJOR hurdle for someone just recently overcoming addiction - Overcoming addiction with your dreams on the line vs remaining sober when your dreams fade away.

I truly wish the best for him, these next years will likely be a lot harder than what he's experienced so far. Hell, the years after losing your NHL dream are excruciating on those without addiction.

Deep down I wonder if this is why the Flames let him go.
